  1. Several people did great work in those threads!
  2. In After The Episode they actually explain Alicent went more religious because she used her religion to feel less guilty of the fact she hurt Rhaenyra.
  3. She was turned around by Rhaenyra's speech. When Rhaenyra showed appreciation for the fact she took care of her father during the time Rhaenyra was at dragonstone.
  4. I think he knows the truth but choses not to acknowledge it. Rhaenyra is the person he loves the most. So he will protect her. And the reason why Alicent is so angry/jealous is because he will always chose Rhaenyra over her or her children. Just like when he refuses to punish someone for maiming her child but at the same time threatens everyone to remove his/her tongue for speaking the truth about the childrens' parentage.
  5. To be honest, I have personally still more sympathy for showAlicent than for showRhaenyra even after the time jump. I personally don't understand all the hate.
  6. She keeps saying that telling the truth ('insulting her virtue') is treason. She did it when she lied to Alicent in the godswood when she swore on her mother's memory Daemon didn't touch her. And after she claimed Aemond was rightfully punished by losing his eye because he called her sons bastards, she thanks her father when he threatens to cut the tongue of everyone who tells the truth about her sons' parentage.
  7. Jeey! 717 years after the Flemish won against the French at the Battle of the Gulden Spurs, a Flemish won a part of Tour de France! Something which makes this hideous (National) Day of Flanders better because it really sucked thanks to the fact the Speaker of the Flemish Parliament had to resign because it was reported he committed fraud in order to pay his escort girl
  8. Just read that wearing the yellow jersey is only € 500 for each day. And apparently you don't even see a lot of that money - a part of it goes to your team maters, team, ... Apparently Van Aert said to Raymond Poulidor (MvP's granddad) he was happy MvP wasn't there Dots and White still for Belgium! From a Belgian Team
  9. The days in Belgium were at least great for the cycling of the low countries - and especially for the Netherlands. Yellow and Green for Teunissen, Dots for Van Avermaet, White for Van Aert. MVP is indeed amazing - still always root a Flemish would win the competitions It was a bit boring last year to guess who would win the cyclo-cross competitions. I actually think hearing what happened the last two days would convince him certainly to take part in the Tour.
  10. Crazy day in Belgium. There were 500 000 people on the streets to watch The Tour (or more specially Eddy Merckx). Really happy Van Avermaert won the climb on the wall of Geraadsbergen - because he wanted to show something to his own people (Belgian) - and for publicity reasons. Anyway, apparently cyclo-cross is actually great training.
  11. Best episode since s04e02. 10 seconds of Ghost => 5 Jaime&Brienne => +2 = 7
  12. First, I want say to the OP this is an amazing thread which lead to several interesting observations. Just a little addition (but I think it is already said in some other threads). Bran means in Welsh raven. It also refers to Bran the Blessed, the son of Llyr, the god of the sea (someone earlier in this thread made the connection between the Stark children, wolf and flow; Bran is of course also the son of Cat). Bran the Blessed was king of Britain. Brandon can be also seen as a variant of the Irish name Brendan/Bréannain which is derived from the Welsh word meaning prince. Further is Brandon also a surname which was derived from a place name meaning "hill covered with broom". Broom is a short of shrub. There is a popular theory that the name of the House Plantagenet mayhave been derived from the common broom which was then known as "Planta Genista". It was used by some English kings as a royal emblem. The war of the Roses, the struggle between two cadet branches of the House Plantagenet, was a source of inspiration for GRRM. The one character in the books who was compated to Winter-fell, is of course Bran: The stone is strong, Bran told himself, the roots of the trees go deep, and under the ground the Kings of Winter sit their thrones. So long as those remainded, Winterfell remained. It was not dead, just broken. Like me, he thought. I'm not dead either." In the Bran's Powers Reread Thread we did speak about the possible meanings of fell. @ravenous reader and @Wizz-The-Smith (that stupid tag doesn't want to work) refer actually to another thread by @Seams. (the Seams one I think). And during our discussion @ravenous reader and @Wizz-The-Smith said that "fell" also meant hill and that Winterfell is built on a hill (The builders had not even levelled the earth; there were hills and valleys behind the walls of Winterfell. There was a covered bridge that went from the fourth floor of the bell tower across to the second floor of the rookery) And the caste is of course compared to tree. So Brandon is derived from a place name which means hill covered with broom, a plant. And Winterfell is a place/a castle on a (hollow) hill resembling a tree. --- You have also Brynden Rivers - whose nickname is Bloodraven. You can say his name is some sort of bastard version of the name Brandon: the Riverlands adapted this (typical northern?) name to something more common to their dialect, ... Brynden is the son of a king. But because he is a bastard, he can never truly become completely a prince (=Brandon). Brynden Rivers lives in a hollow hill and sits on a throne of weirwood roots. 13. It was not bad as the last one: - I liked the Bran and Meera scenes. Horrible they called Hodor Willas and not Waldar. I hope they flesh Lyanna more out but than this scene and the ToJ but that is something we will see in the future. Sadly, no Summer I am generous: 1,5/2 + bonus point Bran - Still don't know why Davos is so obsessed with Ghost. I laughed when the wildlings arrived. A comedy. Jeey, Olly is imprisoned. What is going to happen to him now. Except for Carice amazing acting, the resurrection scene was not that good. And I want Ghost to be more active? 0,5/2 for Carice acting and +1 for Ghost - King's Landing. No idea what they were saying actually. Only the first scene was good. And they showed that the asshole talking was really something inappropriate. Laughed with his death. And then the rest of scenes. No idea what was happening? 0,5/1 - No comment on Arya's scene 0/1 - Theon mentioned Robb! (bonus point). Alfie Allen was amazing like always. Brienne showed finally more emotion than just kill the enemies. Brienne lied about Sandor? Or she omitted at least she tried to kill him? Theon and Sansa talk was very good until Theon said I am going home. 0,5/1 for Alfie Allen and Sansa/Theon talk +1 Robb -Tyrion playing Quent without being burned Another of his tasteless jokes. Oh, yes, I want to punch you in the face. 0/1 -1 tasteless joke - No comment on the Ironborn scene. Sad King Balon is dead 0/1 - Roose R.I.P. Why did you need to kill a baby? Only the atmosphere during Walda's death was good. 0/1 Wow, a 5/10. Congrats Dave Hill
  14. No, it is about the fact Ellaria decided to kill the brother and the nephew of Oberyn, the guy who greatest desire was to revenge the death of his sister and her children. It is about the fact Elllaria says "weak men cannot rule" while at the same time it is said Doran does care about his people and doesn't want to risk their safety for REVENGE. It is about the fact Ellaria and Sandsnakes are just four one-dimensional female villains without any other emotion than ANGER and DESIRE for REVENGE while at the same time we should see this as a form of empowerment? The problems with Dorne is big enough without you would even compare it to the books. And in the end it is not wrong to say you do not like a certain storyline because it is different from the books. Some people here really love certain parts of the books and they can feel disappointed if it is changed from the books. There is nothing wrong with that.
  15. 0 +2 bonus points for direwolf screen time

    Board Issues 4

I had the same problem and it indeeds helps to clear your cache. So thank you
  17. Starting with 5 Shireen and Davos: +2 Ramsay ninja's: -1 Stannis: -2 Shireen and Ellaria change of character in a blink of an eye: -1 The Fighting pit scene: -1 So I guess it is a 2
  18. Let start with 5 There were no gratuitous sex scenes: +3 Dany & Tyrion: -2 Arya Cockels: +1 "Lana" instead of Cat: -1 Olly: - 2 Sansa finds out about Rickon and Bran: +1 Whights: +1 (just because I started to laugh) Wildlings: -1 (didn't like how they were portraited) Wun wun: + 1 No Ghost: -1 Night King?: -2 So conclusion: 3
  19. There were two very beautiful scenes in this episode: - Talk between Barristan/Dany - Shireen/Stannis I especially like the talk between Barristan and Dany. I also like how they are starting to refer to Lyanna, Rhaegar and Jon's mother and Margaery was finally not a bitch to just be a bitch but was starting to use her cunning But it is pity they are overshadowed by some things that absolutely I dislike "All smiles died"? Really? Does you really need to make LF say exactly those words? I don't really mind it was LF the one who told the story. But please don't let them use those words (who represent for me all the grief Ned felt because of the war, the dead of his sister, ...) - LF's plan still don't make any sense - Jon and Mel. While I like Jon made the decision to refuse, it thought this scene was just wrong, gratuitous and distasteful. When I watch tv, I am normally not saying each second a curse word. Which I know I did. What was the point of this scene? What was the point of "You know nothing"? Did Ygritte warg Mel? - Ellaria. First of all, this entire story line is butchered. Second, I don't feel any desire for vengeance by them. They say it but I did not really feel it. Lets give it 2
  20. Everyone knows everything in Planetos (f.e Roose killing Robb)
  21. Kit Harrington was amazing. I could see in him the mannerism of Sean Bean/Ned Stark. He is even more moodier. Sophie Turner her acting was also very good. I loved Alfie Allen of course in the few scenes he was in. I hope Ramsay was insincere towards LF otherwise it doesn't make any sense what is happening. LF actually doesn't make any sense. He is going against the Lannisters and the Boltons at the same time? That is a very great risk. And I can't believe he cares about Sansa and gives her to Ramsay at the same time. I loved Davos had his own lines and was not just standing next to Stannis all the time. The House of White and Black was amazingly designed. Lets give it a 7
  22. To be fair and without nickping, I must give it a 7 because it is better than the first one. I loved the interaction between Bronn and Lollys. It was rather sweet (Stupid Bracken!). I thought it was strange first Arya was not admitted and then well after threatening some guys? Meereen was also good and finally Dany was not totally wooden in this entire episode. So yeah Lyanna!!! She came in it while somebody in this forum said once to me I should not hope for it (but she is the Lady Mormont. So no sisters? :crying: ) Gives the episode 2 points extra Sansa/Brienne and Jaime/Cersei were strange scenes. Pod was hilarious.
  23. She is fact the lady of Bear Island. So no Alysane and Maege is also death? :crying: Actually he does
