7/10 I'd say. Until the Blackfish's bizarre offscreen death, the Riverrun stuff was excellent. Jaime and Brienne reunion, Jaime threatening Edmure, Blackfish opting to hold out, the conflict between whether or not to admit Edmure, and even the comical Bronn/Podrick stuff made the scenes fairly tense and interesting. The wildfire hints from Qyburn to Cersei made KL enticing, however Arya's stuff was a tad ridiculous, and Tyrion's jokes with Grey Worm and Missandei were quite awkward. Disappointed in a lack of the North, too.

I'd agree with that. Interesting to see them giving very strong hints as to what will probably happen in the future books at some point.- 1,452 replies

How would you rate episode 402?
Jairion Lannister replied to Ran's topic in E02: The Lion and the Rose
I went for a 9 but it could have easily been a 10. The ending is a massive indicator for any episode if there's a big moment since the rest of the episode generally builds to that, and this was no different. Superb final scene in it's execution.- 244 replies

I'm curious for that as well. I didn't expect that Bronn would outright betray Tyrion like that by handing her over, however it would be a major deviation to actually send her away. The only other explanation would be that she did go, but found a way to get back onto land before the ship departed. The fact that it wasn't shown onscreen though is likely an indicator that something happened which they want us to be surprised by.- 1,452 replies

9/10 Obviously there's always going to be a lot of exposition and slow building in a first episode, but overall they did a good job of it and it was probably the 2nd best pilot behind the show's first ever episode. Placing the tavern scene at the end was clever; they knew that they had given a lot of exposition and talking in the episode, but managed to keep interest with some good action at the end.
