  1. Oh, wow. There's a throwback that immediately brought back a flood of nice memories of my nanna looking after me as a child. Anyway, thanks all for the input on Disney+ recs
  2. Adding to the confusion, I would say a half dozen buns could mean 6-8, but a half dozen eggs is always 6
  3. I have Disney+ for the next three months (I won't be renewing when its back at full price). So I'm looking to work through a back catalogue of shows as well as some new stuff. Looking for any recommendations as to what I should prioritise (UK, if that helps). Predictably, I binger Newturama and then immediately had to go back and watch the older seasons which I've been watching as background comfort noise, Thinking I will watch Wandavision (yep, I'm that far behind on Disney+ content). I'm not interested in jumping deep into the marvel stuff but I recall how well received it was and it sounds like my kind of show. Also going to try OMITB which I know has received a lot of praise around the forum. Which of the Star Wars shows, if any, would you all suggest? I'm aware that they've been a bit of a mixed bag.
  4. ha, yeah CW boss says CW show and associated lead are awards bait doesn't really speak much to me. CW does not generally do well at awards shows either right? I've not paid attention much lately, true, but I have a vague recollection that the likes of HBO, Showtime and Netflix tended to sweep up? I've no particular thoughts on Sophie as an actress, I think she was solidly fine through the latter half of GoT and not familiar with her other work. She always seems nice enough in interviews etc.
  5. Harissa trout, beetroot and grapefruit salad with whipped feta, from BBC Good Food. We followed up with a fruit salad, Greek yoghurt and homemade granola
  6. Miso roasted aubergine with stir fried veggies and pickled cabbage
  7. I binged the first 6 episodes of new Futurama. I enjoyed it, not the highest of highs that Futurama has had but still very enjoyable. I'm also appreciating more just how many jokes are crammed into the script, they're pretty much every other line. Glad they decided to spend one episode getting the majority of "This is another reboot" jokes out of the way
  8. Is Good Omens Netflix for you? Odd, as its Amazon Prime over here and I'd have thought they'd be competitors rather than one having distribution rights overseas. Sandman is Netflix here though?
  9. I'd suggest Scotland over the Lakes, though I'd also recommend renting a car. As Spocky said if you go outside of the cities and find somewhere rural and cosy, which is admittedly my preferred holiday, you're usually a fair distance from anything but a local shop with the essential groceries. And of course, a pub. I personally liked Loch Lomond, which had lots of lovely, not too strenuous walks with beautiful scenery and plenty of places which give you a cosy feeling of isolation. Also enjoyed Pitlochry which is further North closer to the highlands (I think....testing my memory and geography skills here). Pretty rural too so again I'd recommend renting a car. Eta: For somewhere more Southern and Coastal Cornwall is always nice. Plenty of small fishing villages that offer a nice escape from a busier lifestyle and the coast there is beautiful. From memory I think the beaches on the West coast were nicer, but that could just be the luck of where I visited With the Lakes, also very lovely but in my opinion much more of a concentrated tourist trap so less enjoyable. The walking there is probably also less suited to your parents age range but then I'm less familiar with the Lakes so I'm sure there would be something for them
  10. Lets also not forget my absolutely favourite Cult classic starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis. I've been able to quote that film line for line since I was far too young
  11. I enjoyed GotG as a standalone film. As someone who doesn't keep up with MCU I appreciated that it made enough sense and was still fun without the full context,
  12. Happy Pride! We had Northern Pride this weekend, and this year I organised a small group of us to go from work together. Work paid for us to get tshirts printed, and for our tickets and gave us a budget for food and drinks (this is budgeted in our LGBTQIA+ annual budget). In true British summertime vibes, it had pittled down all weekend but honestly, this is the happiest I've felt in a long time. Just being surrounded by so much love, acceptance and like minded people was pretty euphoric. It was also lovely seeing so many families out together supporting the parade - we've been having some pretty harrowing conversations this week about the lived experiences of some older members of the community at my workplace so seeing a reminder that things are improving was lovely. Its often very easy to forget what progress has been made when you are reading the news and seeing so much doom and gloom. Not to discredit what still needs to be done, and the need to fight to hold on to what we have. But for one weekend at least I'm just going to bask in this joy
  13. A multi million dollar brand, with years of backstory and childhood nostalgia spanning generations? Maybe its not a film you're interested in but its not hard to see why its projected to do so well
  14. I made a spicy, beany, tomato stew with lots of onions, mushrooms and peppers and then cracked some eggs on top (essentially shakshuka) and served it with potatoes with a lemon, mint and yoghurt drizzle
  15. I've been rewatching the early seasons along with a recap podcast and I'm sold, I forgot how much I enjoyed even the poorer episodes
  16. Wait this isn't on Sky Atlantic in the UK this year?
  17. The deity, I am fully in a Janelle Monae dive right now
  18. I could see it as a new intro too but either works for me
  19. FatM seem to be doing a cover of Just a Girl with some kind of connection to this season. That is all. That makes me happy.
  20. My 21st Century Blues, by Raye. the whole album really just hits in all the right places
  21. I've really enjoyed their album this year, full of ear worm-y songs. Excited to hear more of them. 2022 has been a great year for music for me, Florence had a new album, Rina Sawayama, Tove Lo, Wet Leg,Muse, to name just a few
  22. Fashion Designer Vivienne Westwood has died at age 81: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64122181
