  1. If you think Roosters characterization is about his dad dying with Mav being there then I think you purposely chose not to watch the movie given that wasn’t his issue at all.
  2. It should work for this because doing it in 15 would match the books which included 4 very boring books.
  3. Loved it! Incredible movie to see in the theater. The flying sequences were electric, the relationships and their evolution felt real and it had just enough nostalgia and callbacks without being over the top. And I had no problems with Jennifer Connelly's character, not least because she looked absolutely stunning but more because I liked Maverick having an anchor and a reason to "let it go". Great movie that I will immediately see again once it's out.
  4. So good! And he was a pretty damn good fighter pilot too... until you realize he got fucked up by a 17 year old kid who's flown like once...
  5. Iron Eagle is a classic. I will hear no other opinions. It still holds up. “Chappppppppppppy”
  6. My friend just had her personal life up-ended and just got an offer. You better not be hiring her!
  7. She touched the elevator and applied her power. That's what she did in the opening of Episode 2? Just needs to touch it and then it goes up!
  8. Thank you sir. I passed it on to her. She's excited to jump in.
  9. My wife just finished Saga and loved it. She was looking for some recommendations on what she should read next. Any ideas?
  10. I've read Tigana twice and it moved me twice.

    Board Issues 4

Not sure what's going on with the ads but I'm getting ones that are playing some video at top and bottom and every time I read a thread, it automatically goes to the bottom to look at the ad. I scroll up, then it goes to the bottom again. I type in this reply and it tries to go to the top and bottom to play the ad. It makes it impossible to read the forum. This happening to anyone else?
  12. Of course I've read the books. I've been on this site since 2007. Wouldn't have done that if I haven't read the books.
  13. err nm. I'm done. Reading this frustrates me too much.
  14. You do realize there are 2 more seasons that have already been renewed right? You also realize that chronology of the season doesn't completely sit within the framework of the books right? If she's in the show, she'll show up. She didn't need to be introduced in this season to have any impact on the story at all.
  15. I could give two shits about Lady Stoneheart. Thought she was a terrible character as it was so I'm glad they didn't introduce her here. If they do introduce her, it'll be next season when they can sign Michelle Fairley for the whole season, not when she's in the middle of filming 24. Never did understand the love for LSH, nor how people would rate an episode to the point of calling it shit simply because she wasn't introduced. With that out of the way, excellent episode. Everything ended where it should. Dany chained up the dragons. Tyrion killed Shae and Tywin after Jaime let him out. Arya is going to Braavos. The Hound is being left for dead. Stannis saved the day. Bran made it to Bloodraven. Thought it was great all around and even enjoyed some of the changes (Hound/Brienne fight for example). Don't really have anything to complain about.
  16. Mostly because we thought the entire battle at the wall would take place, not just one night given the solo treatment. Also, looks like next week is actually 66 minutes long, a full 15 minutes longer than last night's. As this show is only 10 episodes long, I do wish they'd use the full hour alotment to tease out as much story as possible. More than enough story to add another 5-7 minutes per episode of character beats or set up (looking at you episode 8 prior to the fight).
  17. Solid 8 from me. I felt disappointment at the end of the episode because I expected it to move further. I didn't think we'd have anymore Wall scenes in the finale (there was already enough to do) and I expected the arc to be completed given the solo treatment. What I saw was really good (especially the tracking shot through the fighting) but the epicness was definitely diminished with the climax being put off a week. I'll give it a re-watch before the finale next week and should appreciate it more without the anticipation of resolution.
  18. Loved it. Definite 10 for me. Trial at the end was excellent as was the Reek/Braavos scenes. Not really sure why everyone thinks the Yara scene was pointless. I thought it showed how far Theon has gone, officially kills Theon in Yara's mind for any future scenes on the Iron Islands which we know will happen and becomes the pre-req to the future scene where Reek impersonates Theon. We needed to see his reaction to someone from his old life before we see him go to Moat Cailin and pretend to be Theon. This episode's scene will make that scene all that more powerful. As for Yara running from dogs, think it was pretty clear Theon was dead to her and her mission failed so why not get out? I get it's a bit anti climatic but it's not really all that important how they get out, just what happened when she tried to take him out and the subsequent scene between Reek and Ramsey.
  19. I gave it an 8. Don't care that Strong Belwas wasn't there since we really don't need yet another character in the show. Didn't like the directing of the Jaime/Cersei scene. Definitely not clear enough that it wasn't pure rape even though that's what they were trying to do (she does kiss him throughout though). Otherwise, I was a fan. I like episodes like this where it's more focused on the character interactions and also giving a sense of how some of the little people are affected. I don't need shock and awe every episode and I felt this was a well paced episode with some excellent scenes though they still had their big finish with Dany.
  20. Yes, but they've been doing this for two years. So while you hate his portrayal and it is different from the book, it's consistent within the show and that's the important piece at this point. Figured people would give up by now given it's been like this for the past two seasons but I was wrong. Every Stannis scene will elicit the same reaction until Stannis is dead or the show is over. Gotcha.
  21. I don't get it either. Stannis has been like this for two seasons. Book Stannis != Show Stannis. We should know this by now. He might end up where he does at the end of ASOS but he's clearly taking a different and more direct route. Just don't understand why people are still having the same complaints when they know that show Stannis is different and has been for 2 years.
  22. That's how I took it as well and really, I don't have an issue with it. It makes Theon's fall heartbreaking, him knowing he made the wrong decision, especially as he's spilling his feelings right before being betrayed. We never see this in the books but I think it fits perfectly with the Theon we have seen on screen.
  23. :agree: That scene was more or less done exactly as I imagined it. Incredible.
  24. I loved the Pod seen as well. It brought more levity to the show, something it's in dire need of. Plus, it builds the relationship between Pod and Tyrion. Nothing wrong with that.
