Who would have been Robb's hand?

Robb never named a hand at all in the books as far as I can remember, but if he had then who would it have been? My guess is probably the Blackfish: an experienced war veteran and close relative. It could have been Edmure, although if Robb had been able to go north then he'd have probably wanted Edmure to remain and guard Riverrun. Edmure was shown to sometimes be fairly incompetent as well of course, and Brynden had a lot more experience than him. Then again, he may have went to one of his important bannermen instead.

Also, if he'd named a Kingsguard then who would he have included in it?

Edit: He probably would have not made a KG or had a hand anyway, but if the thread is more of a hypothetical one for who it'd have been if he had.

Hopefully he'd be smart enough to appoint someone like Wyman Manderly instead of people like Brynden and the Greatjon.

:agree:

A king needs a Hand that is good at politics and knows how to play the game. Warriors such as the Blackfish and the Greatjon were good fighters but not politicians. Manderly definitely has the loyalty as well as the mind for it. Another option would've been Howland Reed IMO.

As KG, maybe he might have went with Brienne as Lady Commander because she does have the skills for it. She probably would've accepted because of her loyalty to Catelyn.

Brynden as Lord Commander of the KG never would've happened because I don't really see that guy swearing an oath of celibacy. But he could've been on the Small Council as a military adviser ... hypothetically of course.

Brienne would've been a very good choice. If he'd went with someone such as Wyman or Howland for his hand, would the Blackfish then have been a good option for the KG? He showed no signs of wanting to get married and was clearly a very good warrior.

Ned or Hoster, had they not died. With the options he had, I'd guess the Blackfish or Wyman. Or perhaps Ser Rodrik, his trusted castellan. Or maybe he would've legitimized Jon and freed him from his vows. Who could say...

Jon pre-ADwD would have been a pretty bad Hand, and would probably be even worse than Brynden or the Greatjon.

There's a limited number of people Robb would have as his Hand:

The BF

Lady Catelyn

Roose Bolton

Greatjon

Wyman Manderly

Jason Mallister

Edmure Tully

Possibly Walder Frey is he needs to appease him for some reason-shouldn't be around for too long

As for his KG:

Brienne

Patrek Mallister

Smalljon

Beren Tallhart

Theon Greyjoy

BF

Possibly a hunter from the Wolfswood-add something different into the mix

Why would the BF not make a good hand? Aside from his obvious military expertise he's also the hero of the ninepenny kings war (great for PR), has been brought up learning politics and diplomacy, is smart and not at all naieve (opposed to Robb), likely has contacts all around the Vale and would be a great link to the South

Hard question to answer since there was never even a thought of it in the books.

Hand, likely Roose since he was more political. Manderly was not around so he wouldn't have been involved.

KG, why is Brienne getting mentioned? Robb didn't even know her, let alone trust her with his life. Blackfish and Theon seem more likely.

Strong, very well trained and loyal. That's why Brienne is getting mentioned. What else do you need from a KG? Blackfish would've been a good choice as well because he has the experience.

But Theon???? The guy who ultimately betrayed his king and sacked his own home? I know he was technically a prisoner there but Winterfell was a home to him more than Pike ever was. And he sacked it. That's the person you would trust with your protection, as a king?
