Those Hobb covers are awful. U.K. covers tend to be boring and unimaginative but those are some of the worst I've seen.

I still prefer them to the ones done in this style: http://aidanmoher.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/final-Ship-of-Destiny-cover-US-small.jpg which I find truly awful.

Some of the UK covers are actually really nice in hardback editions. Nicer than they look on screen, anyway.

That cover is not very good but I would take that cover over the U.K. one in a heartbeat.

I've seen good covers on U.K. books before but there's a general trend over there to have abstract covers that are afraid to show the content of the book.
