The Neogaf crew is much more entertaining now than the PTV who are really starting to bore me.

And their use of gifs and screencaps makes it all the more funny to read them !

The heavy-handed "rape" scene has ruined the PTV forum. So much of their focus and attention has been diverted to analyzing the meaning and implications of that scene, and they can't look up interviews with crew members to see how it was really intended. It's not the fault of the Unsullied that the show confuses and deceives them with poor execution of ambiguity and subtlety.

Like another poster (Which Tyler) said, part of the problem is that they only know how to analyze events based on traditional TV techniques - narrative imperative, clear motives based on real-world logic - thus they are missing the particularities of the GoT universe and its characters. The amount of confusion over what the BwB is exemplifies how the posters are confused by a lot of the fantasy elements and Medieval history. This also relates to the "rape" scene because I saw posters applying the cultural and legal norms of our society to analyze whether it was rape or 'forced consensual sex' between Jaime and Cersei. I just don't see how the statutory rape laws of the US are relevant to a fantasy TV show, but the PTV Unsullied will use any tool available to understand a show that often does not make sense.

That's actually one of the things I love about the Unsullied - because I think that's the exact prism through which the show should be viewed.

They're confused about the Brotherhood because the show has not revealed all that much about them. They think Jaime raped Cersei because the show depicted it as rape (unintentionally, it seems, but that was the result nonetheless). That it might not have been under Westerosi norms is as irrelevant as Robert's spousal rape of Cersei in the books - by our standards, it's clearly rape, and should be judged as exactly that.

It's their obssessive attention to these details which has me so addicted. I love watching them try to puzzle out every last clue and try to fit the pieces together. I'm so hopelessly biased by my own reading of the books that I use them as the measuring stick by which the show should be judged. Their current analysis of Robert's Rebellion tells me that the Showrunners need to explain what happened - and I'm actually now pretty optimistic that's exactly what we'll get.

My prediction is that sometime in the next few episodes, Barristan tells Dany what really happened during the rebellion - Rhaegar & Lyanna, the deaths of Rickard & Brandon, Elia and her children, and how he came to serve Robert. Highlighting Dany's ignorance of Westeros (and the Ghiscari) sets up her decision to stay at the end of the season. That, in turn, can be set up by Brienne investigating Houses Darklyn & Hollard as per FFC (with the requisite exposition about Barristan's rescue of Aerys). That could then transition easily to Jaime reading Barristan's entry in the White Book, possibly discussing it with Loras.

The PTV crew suffered some major losses -people who missed the move, people who read the books or saw the DVD extras and dropped out - that they've kind of become imbalanced . The best posters have become fixated on the Cersei-Jamie soap opera and view the Wall story as irrelevant and are just waiting for Dany to invade Westeros.

The posters who would redirect the discussions are simply not there anymore.

Really, this. Also not only is the conversation not getting redirected, it's slowing down a lot. Like I can check in after a day or two and only see a handful of posts. There's been less than 100 since Oathkeeper aired. I think part of this is simply due to splitting the threads making people uncertain of where to post, or hesitant to post at all (Note to anyone here who became a mod over there: My suggestion is to close down the big speculation thread, and allow forward speculation in each episode thread. Basically keep the same sort of "Everything goes in one big thread" mentality that they're used to, just start up a new thread with each episode making it easier for a new person to get into and find where to start reading/posting relevantly). But even outside of that, there's simply fewer posters there, and it does seem like a number of them are losing interest.

On the other hand, the NeoGAF forums are so ridiculously active I can't hope to keep up with them. I do appreciate when people crosspost interesting stuff from them here though.

I actually really hesitate to say this ,because I have a feeling I'll end up looking like I've got my Sansa-colored-glasses on here but maybe, just maybe if Yara catches up with Bolton's Bastard Ramsay the Giddy Torture King....It's Ramsay who might be in trouble. I know I'm so used to no one other than Dany being allowed to accomplish anything with good intent , but I have some hope that Yara might simply prevail and Yara will make him rue the day. Maybe.

:uhoh: :stunned: :smug:

I saw over at NeoGAF that SKy Atlantic in the UK just announced that for episode 5 and through the end of the season, they're going to interrupt the episode only once for commercial breaks! Commercials?? In the middle of a GoT episode? Outrageous! And one of the NeoGAF guys in the UK said that's a lot better than the 4 or 5 commercial breaks they usually do. I can't even imagine how awful that would be! So, in Asia all nudity and profanity is edited out, and in the UK they have to watch the episode between sales pitches for cereal or diapers or shampoo or whatever. Yikes.

And then executives are wondering why HBO is the most pirated television show ever.

^this, sadly, it's just not the same as it was previous years.

As for NeoGAF, they're quite funny, but some of these guys are too casual, there was at least 20 posters asking "who was this Locke guy again?", is like some of them can't even remember something that happen just 2 weeks ago.

OK, sorry I just have to let it go, now I can go back and be 100% positive about them XD

Do look at the sullied thread at NeoGAF, guys. Well worth following, in fact its currently my favorite GoT thread anywhere. Fast-moving, book-knowledgeable, but funny, irreverent, lots of pics and gifs. I know, its not an unsullied thread, so I'm off-topic, but, just sayin...

This is a little thing, but you don't know how much this bothers me:

The Unsullied character guide still says this:

King Joffrey Baratheon
Sigil: The Crowned Stag of Baratheon and the Lion of Lannister, Combatant
Seat: Kings Landing
Lands: The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros
Words: Ours is the Fury
Currently the King on the Iron Throne.

SAY KING TOMMEN DAMMIT

Thankfully his coronation is tomorrow so it'll be official.

All this talk of A Show having it in for Patriarchies just dislodged a random thought in the old gray matter...what if A Show ends up having ObiePornKenobe:

A. Vote with Mace that Tyrion is not guilty,

And

B. Immediately after the trial, ObiePornKenobe kills Tywin to avenge his dead sis.

This is great because I can't wait for them to see what really happens, but mainly because of the new nickname they gave Oberyn.

Read somewhere from an Unsullied’s predictions:

Cersei and Loras agree to move ahead with the wedding under the agreement that Lancel will be the ever-present third wheel of the marriage….. Cersei gets the front, Loras gets the back (or as they like to call it, the Lancel Sandwich). Lancel of course objects, but to no avail. All is good until Loras swallows Lancel’s sword which highly perturbs Cersei. She in turn eats Loras. End of marriage.

That almost fits, in that I always figured mincing Lancel for a “middle” — but we should find out next episode.

You’d think Ser Jaime would run a sword right through all three of them in a trice if he ever caught them in flagrante delicto, just like a toothpick gets stuck through an especially thick club sandwich.

Too bad Lady Brienne now has the optimal toothpick for that sort of skewering.
