He seems to be someone who used to be a black brother but is now dead. However, even though he is white, he does not have the same characteristics as an Other and I therefore wonder who is he? He died but seems to have retained most of his mental abilities, we knew wights could keep some memory from they're earlier life, but Coldhands retains much more than just a few memories. I thought it could be a very powerful skinchanger which managed to take a corpse's skin. If Coldhand was a man of the night's watch, which I doubt, it must have been a long time ago, since he slaughters his supposed "brothers" that follow Bran and his companions beyond the wall. Read the rest of ADWD first and then, if I remember, I'll post my theory about who/what Coldhands is here.
