Lord Ben Stark Posted June 9, 2014 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Just finished A Game Of Thrones and early on, Arya was chasing that big old black tom cat but she could never catch it. Later in one of the last Eddard chapters, it mentions Rhaenys owning a black kitten. It says: Rhaenys was a child too. Prince Rhaegars daughter. A precious little thing, younger than your girls. She had a small black kitten she called Balerion, did you know? I always wondered what happened to him. Rhaenys liked to pretend he was the true Balerion, the Black Dread of old, but I imagine the Lannisters taught her the difference between a kitten and a dragon quick enough, the day they broke down her door. Rhaenys_Targaryen Posted June 9, 2014 Share Posted June 9, 2014 That's a believe many readers share with you :p A little bit of ironic justice, that even though Rhaenys is dead, her cat Balerion remains to annoy those of the family involved in her dead. Also, some believe that, were a skinchanger powerful enough, they may even skinchange this cat from time to time to keep an eye on the things around Kings Landing.
