The skeletons also screamed etc (despite having no lungs). Wights don't scream or anything in rage. Mostly they are completely quiet.

i think it depends on how the magic is interacting with the bodies. if it's simply moving the physical form, like a literal puppet, then having skeletons move makes just as much sense, but then why wouldn't they be able to move any other objects? If it's more of a possession type thing that allows the dead body to move again, then you would still need those muscles and tendons to make it all work. and there would be a point where the tissues are too deteriorated to make the joints work. but i believe they also have a lot of strength in the books? so i doubt that matches the ability of the muscles of whatever was dead. only GRRM truly knows if skeletons can move. either way i definitely thought it was an odd scene.
