I found a spoiler that might interest books readers:

GinnyMae: Give us some Outlander scoop, please!
Looking ahead: The fifth episode back ends with everything in such a dark place (someone has been taken), that I'm probably going to have to go on medication to deal with the stress of how long I have to wait to see the sixth episode back. It is at that point that the series will get VERY dark, and we will all need to group hug on the daily. Clear you calendar.

I'm going to edit the thread title :) If we're going to use spoilers soon, we have to give some warning :)

In other news, I'm rewatching the first eight episodes with my mother (she loves it so far) and although the first episode was just as bad as I remembered, the second one was a lot better. I had forgotten how funny this show could be. The voice-overs are still terrible though :p

Has anyone watched ep9 yet? I like the change to Jaime's pov, it suited this episode. I wonder if it will continue through the second half of the season?

Again watching it on demand I see :p I though the episode only aired tomorrow no? :)

No it's supposed to air tonight. I was going to do the same as you and watch the first eight again but nine was already available to watch. I was weak, I couldn't wait. :P Starz needs to stop doing this to me since I can't discus it or read thoughts on the show here, shame on you Starz, shame.

Hopefully, if I can watch it early the rest of the season, it won't be as difficult to wait for discussions like it was with Black Sails. That was painful, but I just could not summon the willpower to wait to watch.

ps :blushing: sorry if I spoiled anything... I thought everyone knew this episode would be from Jaime's pov from the teaser so I only commented on that part

I have avoided watching any promotional material ;) But it was a minor thing really, I didn't even register the spoiler until the ps in your next post XD I just thought I'd better convert this thread into to a spoilerthread, because I hate it when people start threads and don't indicate that (that bugged me greatly in the Black Sails threads).

Loved this episode. This show is just so beautifully done...

My favorite part, when she was sorry he couldn't go back to Lallybroch, and he said "You are my home now." Perfect.

Oh, and I thought Jaime's voiceover worked really well, too.

This was actually better than I expected it to be. It was the 'make or break' episode simply because translating the strapping to screen (and it was done very poorly in the books) was a tough task. But it was done well.

I am hoping they don't continue with Jamie POV voiceovers. It worked here because he was the 'outlander', being the newbie to the whole marriage thing. But I think going forward, it's better off kept in the outsider's perspective, and for now, that's still Claire.

It was a good episode but I could do with less of the soft-corn porn.

Overall, I liked the rescue and agree the strapping was well done, Claire fighting against it is very much within character. Their fight prior to was also very good, realistic of all the hurtful things we say when we're arguing.

It drop of a bit when they got into the Jacobite storyline but I know that this will be important for future storylines. I'm not to sure if the MacKenzie would be too please about Jaime gossiping to Claie about his child not being his child. ;)

The show really is very beautiful cinematographictly. They are already shooting in a beatific place but the filters and lighting they use making it very alive.

That was a lovely part, but I suspected already that the key was of his home.

Agree and actually I missed Claire's voice over.

It was ok. Expected better though.

There are some very intense storylines coming up so keep watching.

Soft-corn? Is that some new term :)

I haven't read the novels. I gave the good old college try, but alas, it was not for me... Now, I consider myself to be someone who respects women, a gentleman of sort and in no way do I condone the violence against women, but that scene was hilarious. And I am not lying when I say that I laughed. I really giggled. Naturally, I was ashamed of my reaction and still am, but it was indeed more powerful than my common sense. Perhaps it was the music, perhaps it was the two of them, or the actor's accent, but I swear to God, I laughed.

It was nice episode... I missed these two... Even though the obvious lack of my common sense, I think this is perhaps the best couple on TV these days.

Yeah, that was a bit heavy handed this episode, less is more.

The showrunner said they will be back to Claire's voiceover in the next episode.

Less is definitely more.

Oh, cool. She'll be back.

Soft-corn? Is that some new term :)

Hehe.

They do have excellent chemistry.

it took me a day to formulate what was bothering me about this episode.... don't get me wrong, I still really liked it.... but for me, there was something "off".... and this is what it is....

I understood Claire's voiceovers.... she had no one to confide in, so that was the only way we could understand what she was thinking, and more importantly, her motivations.... But with Jaime, this isn't the case.... it just seemed like a way for the writers to avoid writing dialogue

But maybe I'm nit picking.

I really enjoyed the episode. I thought the initial fight between Claire and Jaime was great - those two have such amazing chemistry. They handled the spanking well too and I laughed a little bit at it too. I think they purposefully made it a bit comical.

They are really, umm, holding not much back when it comes to the love scenes. I'm glad I wasn't watching it with my mom like my good friend was.

I can't wait to see the rest of the season.

I think the sex is rather well done on this show. Though, there is still room for improvement. If the sex is meant to be a conversation of sorts, it makes some of the voiceovers and some of the dialogue annoyingly redundant. I'd rather they just allow the bodies and the faces to tell us what's going on here rather than talk talk talk talk talk.
