the marsh king
I was just re-reading ACoK and the dream Theon has with the dead starks at the feast i noticed that Benjen was not there, could this be a hint that he is not dead. Theon even see's Lyana at the feast and those two have never met and you would presume he met Benjen a few times yet he is not at this Feat of the dead. I just thought this could be a hint that Benjen is alive somewhere possible Coldhands Any thoughts ?

TrueOrFalse
I think you're right! I've always thought Benjen is still alive, and him not being in Theon's dream could definitely be a hint.
Balerion the one eared cat
I believe Benjen is still alive out there, somewhere. However I don't think he can be Coldhands, as Leaf tells Bran and Co that Coldhands died many hundreds of years ago - leading me to think he's the Night's King. a bastard with a harp
Sounds legit. Maybe this is one of the many mysteries of the series that we will never know the answer.

Lady Blizzardborn
Yay! Up until clicking on this topic the best evidence I had is that the book appendices list him as "presumed dead" but not actually dead. ETA: sharing this with the Bumping for Benjen thread! Lady Blizzardborn
LordQorgyle, Or the LH, or the NK, or Daemon II, or Osric Stark, or some other Stark, or one of the thousands of other men who have served in the Night's Watch over the last 8,000 +/- years. Ser Yolo Swaggins
That actually might be the best piece of evidence I have seen for Benjen being alive, other that we don't know if he's dead. Nice work.
Balerion the one eared cat
What has Benjen been doing all this time? Hanging out with Howland Reed? Never thought of that! Woa, I like that... we do know that Howland is a firm Stark loyalist!
Theon {HUNGRY WOLF} Stark
For me he is one of the 40 sentinels, all the tales of old nan have a little of true and for me that one too IIRC they were 79 sentinels including youngest son of Lord Ryswell. Lord Ryswell would later join them. They were interred in icy graves atop the Wall while alive. And there torsos faced north so they would remember their duties. Lady Blizzardborn
I was just going to say that, the norry. Did they change that in the show? By the way, how would one of the sentinels get out of the ice? And how on earth could they be undead after that? I've got an explanation for Coldhands in my Wighting Theory, but it doesn't take being frozen to death into account.
