On November 8th, The Public House Theatre (“Bye Bye Liver,” “A Nightmare on Backstreet”) will open “Game of Mobile Homes,” which sets the central characters of GOT’s first season in the West Rose Trailer Park, vying for control of the local drug trade- covering and uncovering secrets of incest and murder to increase their power. When the King of the Mountain, Bob Baratheon, pays the Starks an unexpected visit and asks Eddie for a favor, Eddie finds himself thrust back into a whirlwind of backhanded politics, alarmingly destructive teenagers, face-to-face once more with the wiley, incestuous Clannisters. Meanwhile, the exiled Dani Taragon fights for revenge with the dangerous drug-lord Karl Drogos and his gang of Mustang-driving thugs behind her. But all of them share one fear: Tornado Season is Coming. Writer/Director Byron Hatfield (Bye Bye Liver; Love Me, Tinder) is no stranger to feuding families. The Tennessee native is a direct descendant of Devil Anse Hatfield, who was central to the Hatfield/McCoy battle, the remnants of which can still be felt around Appalachia. Hatfield mused “’Game of Thrones’ is primarily focused on Royalty, but there’s not much of a departure from redneck stereotypes. Blood Feuds, incest, property battles- it’s all there.” Hatfield joined with wife, Sasha Hatfield and collaborator, Pat Zielinski, to create the storyline, with distinctive costumes by Jennifer Zielinski. The four exhausted the first season and first book, riffing, sketching and storyboarding until the relationships and arcs were created. The most beloved and detested characters are interpreted with subtle winks and nods to the audience. They maintain their respective intelligence. The trope of Southern under-education is not in play. “Cersei and Tyrion are still just as clever as you’d want them to be. Sansa and Joffrey- well, they’re different.” This is the first show of 2014 featuring members of the new ensemble for The Public House Theatre. Newcomers Timmy Barron, Heidi Cheek, Jason Newsom, Meghan Shanahan and Andrew Thorp join the returning Chris Bashen, Ricky Glore, Sasha Hatfield and Pat Zielinski. The cast of 9 plays 20 roles between them. ABOUT VALAR MORGHULIS Officially released on October 1st, this collaboration between Ommegang Brewery and HBO® has quickly been snapped up by Chicago bars, with the Public House Theatre among them. The Belgian-style Dubbel Ale was crafted to reflect the two sided coin given to Arya Stark (no spoilers), with the saying, “Valar Morghulis,” meaning “All Men Must Die,”- an ominous mantra of the mythical land of Westeros. In taste, it is as rich and complex as George R. R. Martin’s world itself, carrying notes of brown sugar, caramel, clove and just enough hoppyness to announce itself without lingering.
