The Magicians - SyFy [SHOW SPOILERS ONLY]

Does this show have to most f bombs of any basic cable show? I'm fine with that but it was very noticeable on this week's episode. Makes the Margo character truer to the books though (other than all of her plot being, you know, not from the books)

Sometimes i wonder if syfy really has clearance to do that cussing or did they just figure out the fcc doesn't consider them an actual channel.  Like, with their viewership, maybe they don't rise to the level of "punishability."    If they were charged with fucking up the public airwaves, could their response be, "The public?!   Nobody's watching!  And we can fucking prove it!"

Taboo.  This was the first week that I recall hearing it uncensored on The Magicians, and even backed it up to ensure that it wasn't in my head.  Every other episode they just cut out the middle half of the word, so you could still hear f--k.  It is uncensored on Netflix and disc, but it was still strange hearing it on tv.

I know the set up of 'the Magicians' is Hogwarts and Narnia but for flawed people in their 20s but the tone of the series reminds much more 'adult' version of Buffy. Somewhat random mix of people of various magic skills and powers deal with supernatural happenings and their own complicated human problems and failings.

Doesn't seem Buffy-much to moi.  In fact, not at all.  There are a lot of series that description applies to.

I always describe The Magicians as a cross between Harry Potter, and soft core porn.

It's all new for this season at SyFy:

Yes, yes, I know TNG did it first (and other shows) but the time travel bit was great.

I am very close to just fast forwarding over anything to do with Margo and the fairies though. I just don't care about anything to do with that plot.

They do dragon as well as KFC does chicken.   I can feel the malice and the rightness of it as a living being that shouldn't be but it is, and it's about to be more real than you are after it eats you.   But then you never get to get pooped out apparently, which is what your D&D regeneration ability would be counting on, usually, in order to bounce back from that kind of happenstance.   This gut- portal revelation is a classy surprise for a show you'd expect to steer toward dragon scat.  ...this has been Dragon chat!

IDK, Poppy is pretty irritating in the books so I didn't think I'd 'like' this version.

Spoiler

No idea if the dragons will help save magic like in the books but I'd like to see the visual.

Thanks for that   Read the thread title - it clearly says Show Spoilers.  I'll change it to make it even more clear.

You mean you deleted it. What a passive aggressive way to operate.

Given that the entire time frame and plot of the three books have largely been discarded, it seems extreme to delete that post for 'spoilers' given that it didn't touch on anything to do with anyone's involvement in any specific problem or solution or the underlying cause of that problem.

Guys, some of the characters introduced on the show may do things related to magic at some point in the future. #spoilers  I'm sorry to have ruined the show for the ... three other people who post on this thread.

How the fuck could I delete it?  Do you see Moderator by profile?  If you want to get pissy about your post being deleted talk to the moderators.

Wow, you guys.

And here I was, just thinking that was the most boring orgy scene ever.

Spartacus had the right of it concerning orgy scenes. This was pretty tame.

My God, do I ever hate this Poppy.

Poppy is annoying but I love Felicia Day though  she made a statement that Poppy was a lot like her character Charlie in Supernatural, and that does not seem to be the case. I could have done without her hooking up with Quentin as it seemed forced and awkward, imo.  But really, this show is so absurd and funny that it all just makes me laugh - which is why I’m enjoying it so much.
