Valar Morghulis Not Today
Dorne has been the one major disappointment for me this season, was really looking forward to it but it's all felt rather pathetic and a poor excuse for a story thread. I'm not saying the books are perfect here but they make Prince Doran seem a lot more calculating and the Sand Snakes sound a lot more capable. The kiss of death really annoyed me actually. ummester
Maybe he'll cough up a furball instead. That would be purrfect :) I think, with BAD PUSSY, the show finally has it's version of FAT PINK MAST :D

Mingolla
It was pretty bad, but i would take 10 seconds of porny dialogue over 5 minutes of "profound" monologue like the beettle speech anytime.
Gargarax
Absolutely agree - the dialogue was completely terrible, as the writing was most of the season. Any show that has lines like the "bad pussy" one is one to run away from. And don't you think it will get better. As for Darkstar - when are people getting that his line makes much sense in context - it even is a witty answer to Myrcella's question. I'm not saying it is a great line, but it is clever dialogue seen in context. He is not defining himself there, but, possibly, even making a joke. ummester
The function of description is not the function of dialogue. And something that is repulsive is not the same as bad writing - not since the 18th Century ... Considering Bad Pussy is dialogue, I'm kind of confused? Or are you suggesting that it's ok to have silly descriptions, so long as all the people speak proper? I would think that people speaking like trashmouths is always better to read than the author describing something like a trashmouth, so Gilly should have said, 'Put your fat pink mast in me Samwell' rather than GRRM describing a dick as a fat pink mast. But each to their own.

But hey, I'm not a fan of the fat pink mast, but that really is a rare one. The diarrhea is a different category. It happens that way and looks that way, that's why it is described. 2. The bad pussy line is also a terrible cliché and it sounds like contemporary porn language. The line adds nothing to character, plot, theme, atmosphere. It's supposed to be funny. Bad writing is when a line is written for the audience and not for a character.

No, that doesn't sound right. Actually, I think the oldest slang word for vagina, even though I don't like it, is cunt. So perhaps You want a good woman but you need a nasty cunt would have worked better? But then it would make Tyene feel like a bogan and not sexy or cute. Pussy is just a cute replacement for vagina, perahps too modern, and pandering too much to a modern audience - but then, there are lines and entire character traits in the books that make no sense in anything other than a contemporary sense, so, being fair, this entire saga is pulp and trying to pretend it is anything but is a bit pretentious. Fans should enjoy it for what it is, bad pussy and all :D

Chebyshov
I can't believe everyone is being so harsh on it. "Bad pussy" was most certainly Tyene's meta commentary on the entire subplot.

RedViperHD
During an interview with one of the Sand Snakes, one of them said that their characters do something extreme during the last episode. And they did!.... They single handedly killed the show with one line.

You can keep calling the books pulp, it doesn't make it so. There are chapters that are easily as good as some novels that are considered literary classics. The storytelling itself is better than many literary classics. I've just read Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451 and Nineteen Eighty-Four for one of my students' literature exam. While all three make more interesting comments on their immediate historical context than ASOIAF does, they are all rather weak from a storytelling point of view - they have unconvincing characters, a rather simple, often unsurprising plot - Martin is the better storyteller. Their writing style isn't by any means better than that of, for example, the Theon chapters. So no, by no literary criteria is it pulp.
