New Wiki Editors

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums.  I just finished reading the books and the supplementary materials.  After finishing a book I would often make use of the wiki to review what I read and maybe brush up on things I forgot.  I noticed some of the summaries for newer chapters are incomplete or very brief. I would also find the occasional mistake.  I would love the opportunity to give back to the community and help out with the wiki.  Thank you.

Those are cool; why does Visenya have half a Velaryon shield behind her?

Sorry for the late reply, but The Wondering Wolf did guess correctly.:)

Again, sorry for not responding sooner, my apartment was undergoing renovations and then my brother had to go to court for his trial. I then had to deal with family drama... ugh.

Hello!  Big fan of ASOIAF (and this site) here.  I'm in the process of making an interactive infographic about ASOIAF, and I want to pull some character descriptions from AWOAIF.  But, I noticed that some of the hatnotes are not properly formatted, and hence they show up as part of the article text.  So I would like to become a wiki member so that I can make a few minor formatting changes.  This is my first forum post toward that end...

Could you perhaps list a few articles where you saw that issue?

Sure!

http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Sansa_Stark

http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Eddard_Stark

In both cases, the hatnote is written out longhand, e.g.

:''For the historical figure, see [[Sansa Stark (daughter of Rickon)]].''

Instead, you should use a hatnote template.  For Sansa, this would look like

{{For | historical figure | Sansa Stark (daughter of Rickon)}}

This would produce the exact same text as is currently displayed.  You can also make hatnotes with custom text as follows:

{{Hatnote|blah blah blah}}

Here is an example of a page with a correctly formatted hatnote:

http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Bran_Stark

{{See homonyms | Brandon Stark (disambiguation)}}

Thanks for taking an interest in this!

Hey there, fresh off from Wikipedia here, been trawling through the Wiki enough times, though it was time I did what I could to neaten it up - write up some of those red links, make the minor error corrections and so on. I've even got a few maps - made for personal interest, mostly - which could certainly find their uses on the wiki, such as a few maps of the movements of the Conflict Beyond the Wall. Whatever contribution I can make, good to be here!

Hey all!

Longtime lurker here, figure I can help out with some minor edits like grammar and linking and stuff.

Question though, how come some wiki pages will show up in my desktop browser with mobile formatting? Is this just a default if the last editor was on a mobile device? For instance, this page currently has this problem (Here's screenshots in case it gets fixed). I can post this elsewhere too.

Yeah had that problem also sometimes... I would click on Desktop version on the bottom of the page, and it would be alright, but as soon as I reloaded it, it would be in mobile formatting again.

Hello!

Just introducing myself: Maester Joseph, from the U.S.  I started off watching the HBO production, and have since read the books.  The Wiki here is a wonderful reference: I've steered people to it many times, and look forward to contributing to it, myself.  (I'm aware of the cross-site problems.)

I was saw that the Chapters_Table_of_contents page was missing the page numbers for the ADWD US paperback. I tried to register to add them but I realized that the "how to register" page wasn't accurate and should be updated to link to the how to get a wiki account post. I'll just post the numbers here and someone else can update the page.

Here is the footnote:

35. Referenced edition is  ISBN 978-0-55-358201-7 ( 0-553-58201-1), Bantam (29 Oct 2013). Other editions may not match the page numbers given for this edition.

And the page numbers:

Unfortunately, we have an issue with the wiki login. It used to be handled by a plugin that gave you access to the wiki once you had a forum account, but this plugin was never updated for the new version of the forum. We have been pursuing other solutions but not been able to solve the issue.

Hi, I am serojja and really enjoy creating videos. Currently I am working on creating youtube videos based on the awoiaf articles - in my opinion this will enable people enjoy the content of wikia in a new way - not exclusively through reading, but also through watching and listening.

I have created topic about my videos, here it is:
