Olenna did not poison Joff

All the more reason why Garlen or anyone else did not do the wine: too many participants, too many mouths, and someone always tells. Plus, to imagine Garlen doing the deed you have to think he is the most duplicitous character in the book -- not the noble, chivalrous knight he appears to be, but a craven who would resort to a woman's or a eunuch's weapon to kill someone. This would be the same cowardly knight who donned Renley's armor and waded into the thick of the battle, BTW.

You're reading things into Garlan's character that are not necessarily there. He's done one duplicitous deed already, wearing Renly's armor at Blackwater Rush. Why do you insist on a character being shiny-pure? Pretty much nobody else in the books is. And your statement that poison is a woman's or eunuch's weapon makes you look like you have a mindset similar to Sansa's, tied into tales of knightly valor, etc. We see from the context of the books that this is simply not the case. "Honor is a horse" (Jaime Lannister) and "Knights have no honor" (Sandor Clegane).

It's not a question of honor, it's a question of ego and self-respect. Knights are fighting men above all else, and for a knight to use poison to kill an enemy means he is afraid to face him in battle. We have clear-cut evidence that Garlan is not afraid to face men in battle, and everything he has said the done in the story, including private conversations on the dance floor, indicate he is a thoughtful, perceptive man who takes his knighthood and chivalry very seriously. To reject all of that text and assume Garlan would resort to poison is reading things into his character that are not there.

And if Garlan is in on the plot, why is he warning Tyrion that Joff is about to dump wine on his head? He should be fueling the conflict, not trying to diffuse it.

Dontos.

Dontos, yes people have mentioned him as the poisoner. My favorite, though, is Butterbumps using his juggling skills to arc the crystal over everyone's head and land it right in the chalice.
