Names: My column. Now featuring Davos Seaworth and an evil telepath

This is restoring the start of the fourth thread of links to my column on names and naming.

Since a few years ago I wrote on the name Calvin when the column's date fell on John Calvin's birthday, it was only fair to write on this name today:

Well, Martin Luther King Jr. did not become famous until the Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955, so only one of the famous African-American Luthers mentioned in my article could possibly be named after him.

Here's today's column. I'm sorry I didn't have time to mention the coincidental use of Kim as a surname and given name in East Asia, where it's found in Korea, China, and Vietnam.

We planned to name our first born Zachary if born a boy. This was in 2002 so I was a little behind the peak.  My first was a girl as were children 2 and 3 so no Zachary for us. We compensated by naming our Elf on the Shelf Zachary instead. Every morning in December I wake up and scramble to move my son who never was around the house :)

The girls bring up the missing brother Zachary quite a lot, especially when fighting with their sisters. Its not uncommon for one of them to shout out "I wish you were a Zachary!"

My son was born in 2002 and there are at least 4 Zacharys in his classes, and this is in a failry small town

Entertaining and informative as always, Ormond.

Was there any rise in boys named Kimball due to the popularity of The Fugitive, in either its TV or film incarnation?

Here's today's column. I am so glad the editor knew enough not to change the grammar in my sentence about Yoda! :)

P.S. Since writing this column, several people have told me that although they wouldn't name a baby Yoda, they think it's a great name for a cat or a dog!

Shouldn't it be "Yoda none has" rather than "Yoda has none"?

I wasn't clear on how that should be. I think the important part is having "namesakes" first.

Maybe "No namesakes Yoda has" would be better? Where does he put his adjectives anyway? :)
