They should have just showed his death but then again, they could just have his prosthetic head upon Winterfell or something next year. I did think saying that showing his death would have been "gratuitous" was complete BS but then again, maybe they just left it out to give us a doubt but most likely, he is dead.

Didn't the actor, Stephen Dillane, comment somewhere in an interview or something that he found certain elements in the show to be (too) "gratuitous"? Edit: before season 5.

Maybe the showrunners did listen to him?

Maybe, but don't you find it odd that Dillane has done zero interviews for GOT since his character's supposed death? Its true Dillane doesn't really care for interviews but he did do a few really short ones (one of them the one you referenced) through the seasons, surly he would do one for the conclusion of his role in the show! no?

Even with a very minor character like meryn Trant, the actor did a post death interview, and absolutely all other important characters who have died have had an interview with the actor/actress.

Why the complete silence from dillane? does he have something to hide?

You don't think perhaps its because Dillane isn't interested in playing games like Kit Harrington and the rest and lie about his character's fate.

A still alive but wounded Stannis would be valuable to the Boltons in exchange for a prize from King's Landing. Especially when the heir to house Bolton was married to a wanted woman for Regicide. Just saying. Briene, as dumb as she is, would know this, as well as a free passage inside Winterfell to look for Sansa if she delivered Stannis to them.

 

Also, Stannis, if he lived would potentially be one of the persons on one of those Bolton "X" in upcoming Season 6 "Battle of the Bastards".

Brienne using stannis as a bargaining chip against boltons is out of the question (although you don't know with D&D) since they would simply kill them both on the spot with archers and brienne should know this.

 

I guess stannis could be on the X but I don't think its likely. Its not likely a burning stannis would severely demoralize Jon Snow's camp (on the show, in the books it would). If stannis is alive he could possibly go with brienne to the riverlands. and bring some last minute reinforcements (BWB and some riverlords) from there to join Jon Snow's army on episode 9.

I m just speculating.

Perhaps not interested in playing games and doing interview. He never was to be begin with. I just can hardly imagine Brienne would let him live after all the talks about her vengeance for Renly. GRRM also thanked Shae's actress, but we know from leaks that she plays a role next season, whether flashback or not. So I wouldn't put much stock in who GRRM thanked.

 

In the books I could totally see Brienne not killing Stannis. She is very clearly starting to let go of her dogmatic feelings partly because of her relationship with Jaime. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if she is given a chance to confront stannis down the line (not like the show, but later) but realizes that her quest for revenge is pointless.

Its a different matter in the show, since D&D can and have made her act out of character as much as they want.

Its about fans not letting go of stannis ...and think there is still some purpose left for him in the show

Am just as surprised that a fan of stannis does not know the character more ..stannis will be last person to join any one and his story is not like that.  ..and what more can he bring into the table now that he has lost his wife daughter and Mel and his armies ...

I know you like to say that D&D are trying to give some redemption arc to him.  .but no that is not going to happen his story is about tragedy and doomed from the very start .. He has played his part in the story ...thats why i get irritated with fans of his sometimes.  Like turning him to a character that story is being told...he is just a secondary character who had done his purpose now let him RIp 

One can say how wrong rushed and stupid the things were done in the last two episodes of stannis but that end result is not something to be doubt..he will die and have no purpose anymore has the story moves to the final stage with Jon and dany coming to their own

I wasn't informed that Danny among her creature beside dragons has trolls.   

I don't hate Daenerys , she is bit boring character for now mostly because her story is far away from the Westeros ,  but i can't understand why her fans fear so much of Stannis that they need to complain about his character even now when in the show he is seemingly totally destroyed.

The man might be foreshadowed to be destroyed, but he will fight to the bitter end and then some and i don't feel show did his character justice.

And LOL at dany fans afraid of stannis ...do yourself a favour before making coments like that go back and read the topics for the past four years in both books and shows sections...and you will find who is afraid of who.  .

One doesnt need to be a hater for to see stannis is done in the show. ...or for knowing that stannis is not the main character... I liked him as a secondary character and dillane portrayal of him.   That's it.  

Did I anywhere in my posts say that show portrayed him well.   

Show me where I spoke anything of stannis or complained about him other than his fans not letting go of him and wanting him to be alive in cases that will be OOC for him.  

And how poorly the show have his story I thought that is what stannis did fight to the bitter end no matter...he is not going to be playing a second fiddle in someone's camp.that is not stannis   

I don't think any character is done justice in the show ...all at times gets damaged by the show runners. ..but that doesn't change the fact his role in the show is done

You can be as annoyed and flustered as you want. But that isn't going to convince me about anything.

 

I acknowledge the possibility that he might be gone, after all I m not GRRM I don't know how the story ends. and my posts have reflected that. the only person taking a real definitive stance about anything as if he/she knows the entirety of the story is . . . You!

I m sure not going to stop speculating about something that interests me just cause it annoys someone.
