ser gerold
oerys baratheon is rumored to be the bastard brother of aegon the conqueror. That makes him half a targ, and if he was, all the baratheon family line have targ blood in them.when stannis grand father married a targaryen woman, doesn't it mean the children he fathered were more targs despite their baratheon house name.I think this is the reason why stannis and robert were fierce, stubborn and more immune.stannis never weakened from the snow storm.Robert almost killed the boar. This may further explains why the greyscale is controlled in selyse. Caspoi
That is only a rumor though, and at any rate Robert and Stannis have Targaryen blood through their grandmother so it is a moot point. Also their behavior seems very typical to the Durrandons so I would say that it is from there that they got it.
FuzzyJAM
One grandmother and one ancient ancestor does not amount to 50%+ genetic material. That's not how it works at all.But I don't really see any connection between the Baratheon Brothers (inc.) and Targaryens either.
SevasTra82
It is widely known that there is Targ blood in the Baratheon line. Outside of this, there is nothing else to dwell on. No secret Targs, not hidden agendas. No complex meanings. Simply Targ blood from a grandmother.

Chilli
No their grandmother is Aegon V's daughter Rhaelle. Funny thing is that this makes them related to Dany and Jon too.
redtree
25% Targs from Rhaelle, i think she passed away early or in birthing bed because it's not mentioned that Steffon had any sibling

7-KG
By that logic, most of the lords in Westeros would be Targaryens too.
shockwave
targs didn't marry much outsiders. Most women were kept around for inbreeding or joined the faith or married velaryons.

Kienn
targs didn't marry much outsiders. Most women were kept around for inbreeding or joined the faith or married velaryons.Except for the ones that did marry outsiders. They have kids who marry yet more houses and have more kids who marry yet more houses... Etc And then you count the hundreds of bastards and find where they and their descendants went... Basically all of Westeros is Targ.

Basically all of Westeros is Targ.no...might everyone have a drop of kingsblood, sure...But you don't make such a tradition of intermarriage if all you need is a drop... Also, with powers like Warging being pretty clearly genetic, blood does matter in this worldnot to mention that Targaryen is a family name reserved for legitimate children. So stannis and Robert (and renly) all have more than a drop, but they are not Targaryens.
Dorian Martell
There is Targ blood all over westeros. It was called "Prima Noctu" or first night and it allowed lords to have sex with their subjects wives on their wedding night. Then there are the "Dragon seeds" in the princess and the queen. so yeah, the targs got around and had sex with a lot of people
