So it's (co-)written by the same person who wrote The Last Samurai? He must really like the 'white man saves Asian country' plot device.

The white man didn't save the Asian country though...

Trailer for Nat Geo TV's 'Mars' Drama Series

It's not about Nazi's, Air crash investigations or the Incredible Dr. Pol... So how can it be a Nat Geo series? :P

‘Dunkirk’ First Trailer: Christopher Nolan’s WWII Thriller

This is the WWII movie we don't need but we deserve. Or is it the other way around? :P

But I am definitely interested.

No way :o No way :o That's the kid from the original film :o

Good God, please let this one be good. I can't stomach another Anchorman 2 or Zoolander 2. We deserve better :crying:

EDIT: Billy Bob Thornton looks really unhealthy in this. He's superskinny :o

Ow, that looks really interesting. Slap some magic in it and we could have a great fantasy movie. All kidding aside, very impressive achievement of that girl. I have had the good fortune to encounter a golden eagle once and interact with it. Those things are heavy and you're uncomfortably aware of those tallons even with a handling glove on.

I was wary at first, because it looked like an Independence day knock-off in those first few bits, but if they don't go for the 'aaaarhj, E.T. coming to kill us' twist, this could be good :)

Nolan is really good at creating teasers for his films. Remember the one he did for Interstellar? I still think it's probably the best teaser/trailer ever done. A shame the movie sucked donkey balls, but that teaser is something I still watch.

Nah, you were right on the money the first time around. The world needs another WW II movie (especially one set on the western front) like Hiroshima needs another A-bomb dropped on top of it. But we deserve this one, because of the insane amount of golden generation crap we gobble up like a Saudi Arabian pornstar swallowing cum at the end of a desert shoot.

 How drunk were you when you wrote that?

And sure it's another Western movie, but at least this one shows the Allies running with their tails between their legs.

Independence Day? What crossed my mind was The Day the Earth Stood Still (Keanu version) + Man of Steel, 'cause of Amy Adams. And considering that the synopsis mentions that a lot of alien ships landed on Earth, the answer is yes, they're coming to kill us. ("or to save the Earth from the human plague")

I was quite sober I can assure you :P I just like a good round of cursing from time to time to make my point. Call it a character flaw :P

Yeah, but you know it will all be sentimental music and on-the-nose-dialogue about the heroic stuff the Tommy's went through and how brave those darn civilians (Golden generation FTW :ack:) were to evacuate the lot of them :( Hollywood keeps on living in the past.

I was thinking along the lines of the helicopter's in ID with the flashing lights to communicate with the creatures inside.  Your descripition seems more apt though. I remember seeing the Keanu version in theatre when it came out, not something I look forward to reliving.

How original :( Ah well, we'll see how it goes. Perhaps they'll do something out of the ordinary.

To be fair, while it does seem likely that as a Hollywood blockbuster they're going to go the war route in the end, it's already an interesting sign that the main character is a linguist. And one of my favourite SF books ever (Kethani by Eric Brown) is about a mass appearance of alien ships/structures on Earth that wasn't a hostile takeover.

Apparently it's based on the Ted Chiang short The Story of your Life. I know people around here absolutely rave about him, how is that for a story/how much is this actually looking to be based on it?

This is a few weeks old now but I don't think anyone posted a trailer for the Magnificent Seven:

That trailer looks surprisingly good. I'm a sucker for a good western, eventhough the original wasn't that good (Aside from Eli Wallach and Charles Bronson). It certainly paled in comparison with Seven Samurai. In fact, the only thing that I find really offputting about the project is its name. The cast looks great, the director has done some good things in the past (His King Arthur has always been a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine) and the trailer looks rather rad. I just hate the fact that it's another remake/reboot/rewhatever. It's such a shameless thing to do. The basic concept isn't exactly new, so why they didn't find another title just beggars belief.

Resident Evil claims to finally be ending.

The first one was 2002 by the way.

Ugh the effects look awful. Still, this will never be the last one. They'll reboot it in a few years, if they don't just make another one. A shame really, how it all turned out. I remember that first movie rather fondly. And two wasn't to bad either, a crapfest for sure, but enjoyable.
