Ep 5 - king ecbert ordered the slaughter of the viking settlement and fuck everybody over. I thought I liked that dude.

Ep 6 - cutting off lady judith's ears.

You ain't seen nothing yet.

Also, for what it's worth, my overall favourite moment of Vikings - without spoilers - the scene where everyone pours their wine away.

Well, probably, if I want to work in something academic (whichIwouldtotallyloveto, butIdonotdarehopesuchthingsaspossible,soIdonotallowmyselfeventothinkofitasanoptionandwedonottalkofit). :leaving: Otherwise, nobody is going to take it as a serious recommendation.

Spoiler

Re: Ecbert, he is a tricky one. I did not like him, but then there was a moment when I started to think of him as a genius.

It is sad about Judith, but I cannot say I liked the whole storyline involving her.

It does have hilarious moments like this. Also Ragnar's backwards salto on the ship and Rollo's scene in the end of S3.

Athelstan's death and Siggy's death, yes?

Those, yes. Especially the second one, which surprised me, because I didn't realise I cared so much

PAnd Aslaug is top of my most hated character list...Just die already!

I very much agree on those sad moments Helena and Buck. I was surprised that I was at the latter too. The circumstances of it were really one of the most memorable scenes of the show imo.

Oh yes I forgot to say, I laughed so hard at the wine toast scene. It was absolutely amazing.

And well yes there are more episodes to come but I have only one and a half episodes before I run out of season three. No regrets, the weekend was not wasted.

My top favorites are Helga, Ragnar and Lagertha

and my most hated characters are Thorunn, King Horik and the French King.

Buckwheat, why should you not think about it? It's a great thing that you know what career you would like to pursue and I'm sure that as top student the academy would welcome you warmly to join their ranks.

The first one was the saddest for me. :(

I have not seen anybody else say their favourite is Helga. But she is okay I suppose.

My favourite is Athelstan (in case that was not clear :P ).

Ah, you were on a later episode than i thought then. There are 10 episodes in Season 3.

Lucky for you Season 4 begins next thursday.

Floki is probably one of the best characters on the show.

Eyron,i think mmy top 3 memorable moments of the show have been:

Blood Eagle

Siggy's Death

The Sacrifice at the temple, i think in Season 1.

Funny scenes

The wine scene

Christian Priest in Kattegat showing "the power of god"....and burning his hands

Rollo's smile in the throne room of Paris

Helena, I agree about those scenes, and I would add

Spoiler

All hail Floki! :commie:

I think she is adorable. She's such a good, kind person and with Floki they are the second best couple on the show. (Nobody beats Lagertha and Ragnar of course)

maybe it is time to make a sacrifice to the God of the space button so it may aid us in reading next year.

Are you sure it's that difficult? Here faculties are going out of their way to catch PhD students. They are as rare as a white Raven and yet pretty essential to the future of the faculty. Many humanity fields at unis are struggling with aging faculties and trying to recruit a future generation. They are usually very very happy to welcome students who wish to stay with them. I don't know, maybe it's different over there, but you are smart and hard working and what else could any faculty wish for? :dunno:

I'm absolutely fine with Floki. I liked him and Helga a lot.

As for the sad scenes, neither of them surprised me.

Spoiler

Neither of them really got to me. The Athelstan one was long overdue, and I spoilered myself about Siggy while obsessively googling this Harbard person.

Memorable moments

Spoiler

The sacrifice in season 1 - beautifully shot scene, absolutely stunning job.

Blood eagle was equally beautiful indeed. Amazing directing and camera work and acting and just everything.

Ragnar saying goodbye to his daughter on the sea shore and talking to Athelstan in the woods after the first lost Paris battle.

Oh and Floki and Siggy betraying Horik instead of Ragnar - as insane and illogical and unbased it was.

Funniest scenes (ones that had me laughing out loud)

Spoiler

Wine scene

Ragnar sleeping with a kid in his lap, someone calls him, he   Startles from sleep and the kid falls off of his lap.

Lagertha throwing things at Ragnar when she found out about aslaug.

And then Ragnar going Who is Harbard? / *no answer* / *knock knock knock on the table* who is harbard?

And I also couldn't stop laughing when the camera showed ragnar's head grinning among the severed heads they hanged on the ship after defeating kwenthryth's uncle.

I do not think it is hard to get into a PhD program, but it is hard to then get anywhere with it.

And I am not hard working at all, I am lazy and a queen of procrastination ... :leaving:

Nah, you misunderstand.

Spoiler

I had no major problems with the priest. Sure, sometimes I found him mildly annoying, but he was overall a good character. But the guy survived evvvvvvrything. I mean I kept wondering why nobody wants to kill this person, he is the representation of one of the core conflicts of the story. And yes both kings loved him because he's sensible and has big puppy eyes, but both teams had more than enough reason to kill him as he changed sides more often than the others changed their clothes. It was bound to happen sooner or later that Ecbert or Ragnar would not be there to save him from the angry mob and so that was his end, sadly.

So now that we cleared that, I hope we can stay friends?

Again, here it is customary for phd students to stay at the faculty and continue with an academic career. They stay to teach and research and there aren't usually any obstacles because as I said, faculties badly need reinforcement. Not sure how it goes at your uni.

And believe me, you are really hard working.

eta; Bucky, you should watch Poldark and War and Peace if you can find somewhere to watch them.

I should warn you Buck, Poldark is pornography (of the worst kind.)

Athelstan is fine when he's being pagan. Less-so otherwise.

Thank you for the recommendation, I will probably give Poldark a try.

Yesterday I watched the first episode of Grimm though, and it looked very interesting, so I might continue with that for a while.

We can. ;)

Spoiler

I agree he was the representation of the main conflicts, and I loved his position in-between. I loved watching him between two different faiths, that was the most interesting character development for me. There were plenty of characters wanting to kill him, true ... but I wanted to keep watching him. :(

Other characters changing their clothes ... Yeah, that does not really happen.

I am sure the faculties need reinforcement, but they cannot afford it, that is the problem I think. Or something. I am not sure. Anyway, lets stop that silly conversation because it does not go anywhere. I want to gather some work experience and stuff before I even think of doing a PhD.

:o Helena, really? That is what you are recommending to me? Shame on you!

Athelstan is fine whatever he is doing. :smug:

And I will have you know that I worship no false or wrong gods. Hail Freya! :commie:
