Jeyne's situation was a tad worse. She'd be killed, if she said she wasn't Arya. She was literally married at sword point, since if she said anything other than what was expected of her, she'd die. Also, I think there wasn't a choice for Jeyne. She was raped and beaten into submission in the brothel (The worst thing LF ever did, on the books) and then just shipped off to Winterfell. She's in panic at her wedding day. There's no real option when the option is X or Death.

Yes, all of this. Like you said, that's the worst thing LF ever did in the books, and he did the same thing to the girl he talked about in season 2. Justice is what's called for, for grievous crimes against her, Ros, Sansa, and many others.

Ugh, no. I don't want to listen to any bullshit victim-blaming apologism.

ETA: What Alayne's Shadow said.

Not even going to go there with the Jeyne had a choice nonsense. Someone can start a debate thread for that, if they want to lose the debate,

I agree. It is very dangerous territory.

And of course...

The topic of the thread is discussing things you disliked about the episode. It is not a place to throw insults at one another or to act as if he normal rules of the forum do not apply. Discussion of why people disliked something is permitted, but remember the topic at hand -- this is not a debate thread, it's a discussion thread specifically about episode details or events that posters disliked.

Please also bear in mind that this thread is not exempt from the other rules of the forum. Be civil to each other. Rape advocacy is unacceptable, even with regards to ficitional characters. If you find you cannot get along with/agree with another poster, ignore them and move on. If you have particular issues you would like addressed, PM a mod/report the relevant post. As already said, the purpose of this thread os not to debate. There are many other threads available for that.

Thank you.

(And by reminding this I am not intending to criticize, ... anyone. But there is just a number of RnR threads locked because people started to debate about the "choice" of Sansa, ... So I am doing this just as a precaution :D)

Let's carry on...

That was incredibly callous, the way she was talking about it. So were they all.

And in the other picture, it looks like Sansa is tending to Theon. Because it's never about her.

(It won't be about her when he's gone, either. It will never be about her. There is no her for it to be about.)

Of course it's all about Theon! What did you expect? After all, he's suffered SO MUCH watching Fansa being turned into a[n empowered] woman!

Also, I was checking out those s 6 photos you've linked, and it seems Sam and Gilly are on a boat. I wonder whether Gilly will go through another rape near-miss. I mean, I suppose it makes sense creatively that the crew will be the opposite of their book counterparts.

Instead let us speculate on possible names for blind Arya? Could she possible be Beth (Did she name her actually after Beth Cassel? I do not remember it really) But Beth Cassel never existed in the show. So what name would she take?

She looks so empowered, doesn't she? And all the speculation about her being pregnant with demon spawn after sexual slavery, after they destroyed her story. Either they didn't bother to notice the picture was wonky, or they thought, let them speculate. Which is pretty bad, in either case.

And Sam and Gilly, they could have held off, and had their first night together on the boat, instead of after attempted rape foreplay, but no...

Ros, obviously

So it turns out Sam and Gilly do get on a boat after all. But they still end up going to Hornhill anyway? Looks like they disembark at Oldtown, go to the Citadel but then Sam just says "let's go to my parent's house for an awkward dinner (which is totally what the audience wants to see, right?)!"

cersei-lannister-in-game-of-thrones-s6

Just saw yet another picture from S6 of Cersei looking noble and sad, rather than vindictive and ready to burn KL and all its works ... And still of course Larry is with her (she's got 99 problems and he is 98 of them!) instead of long gone and refusing to return to her as in the books. They have really bought into Cersei's self-propaganda - maybe they missed the unreliable part of unreliable narrator? (Of course it's possible that Cersei is crumbling on the inside but given their track record with this character I do think we're getting another ten episodes of the tragedy of Carol Lannister, oppressed by the patriarchy and only caring about her kids.)

I just need WoW now; if I had the "real" characters having their "real" stories, I would better be able to ignore this coming shitstorm!

But... but... this is GoT (aka the new Lost) we're talking about. Characters don't develop, nor do they start to crumble on the inside. Rather, they'd just be whatever makes sense creatively  until that moment when the opposite behaviour is required of them. And in that moment, they'll just do the usual 180°. And it's brilliant, because no one will see it coming. So shocking! Not like those boring books full of proper and brilliantly executed foreshadowing! :P

But Ros is still someone from the North? It would probably be a southern name.

I don't think there's any reality to this world. Maybe that's them still on their way to dad's for the awkward dinner.

Maybe ... it is really a dream in the show and in the books? The dream in the show is just more absurd?

I think it's not stated that Arya chose "Beth" because of Beth Cassel, but I remember her thinking that Arya Stark knew someone named Beth, and she thinks about Winterfell. I could be wrong, it's been a while since I last read that chapter.

Here:

ADwD, The Blind Girl

"Beth." She had known a Beth once, back at Winterfell when she was Arya Stark. Maybe that was why she'd picked the name. Or maybe it was just because it went so well with blind.

Maybe she's finally Cat, since Catelyn is blinded by her hatred of Jon Snow and all...

He's so good at subtlety. Breaking that down.

Maybe that was why she'd picked the name. --> Arya talking

Or maybe it was just because it went so well with blind. --> No One talking.

And we are meant to go with ARYA. We want Arya to come back, and to stay.

And of course, he keeps going there with ARYA remembering Jon Snow. (Ditto for Sansa remembering Sandor.) Which I guess they will just ignore this season. So many plot points Jon has to check off, it's not like ARYA was supposed to be a big part of that, and they could tell their stories in parallel, or anything. Or the characters can have layers, depth that shows motivation and makes them seem real. Who needs that stuff. Where's the next bit of shock and violence, that's all that matters.

Jeyne Poole had been confined with her, but Jeyne was useless. Her face was puffy from all her crying, and she could not seem to stop sobbing about her father.

"I'm certain your father is well," Sansa told her when she had finally gotten the dress buttoned right. "I'll ask the queen to let you see him." She thought that kindness might lift Jeyne's spirits, but the other girl just looked at her with red, swollen eyes and began to cry all the harder...

"Everyone has been very sweet and pleasant, Your Grace, thank you ever so much for asking," Sansa said politely. "Only, well, no one will talk to us or tell us what's happened . . . "

"Us?" Cersei seemed puzzled.

"We put the steward's girl in with her," Ser Boros said. "We did not know what else to do with her."

The queen frowned. "Next time, you will ask," she said, her voice sharp. "The gods only know what sort of tales she's been filling Sansa's head with."

"Jeyne's scared," Sansa said. "She won't stop crying. I promised her I'd ask if she could see her father."

Old Grand Maester Pycelle lowered his eyes.

"Her father is well, isn't he?" Sansa said anxiously. She knew there had been fighting, but surely no one would harm a steward. Vayon Poole did not even wear a sword.

Queen Cersei looked at each of the councillors in turn. "I won't have Sansa fretting needlessly. What shall we do with this little friend of hers, my lords?"

Lord Petyr leaned forward. "I'll find a place for her."

"Not in the city," said the queen.

"Do you take me for a fool?"

The queen ignored that. "Ser Boros, escort this girl to Lord Petyr's apartments and instruct his people to keep her there until he comes for her. Tell her that Littlefinger will be taking her to see her father, that ought to calm her down. I want her gone before Sansa returns to her chamber."

She had a pretty face, he thought, but her eyes were sad and wary.

When she saw him, she inclined her head. "Ser Jaime," she said in a thin anxious voice. "You are kind to see me off."

Jaime studied her closely. "You know me, then?"

She bit her lip. "You may not recall, my lord, as I was littler then . . . but I had the honor to meet you at Winterfell when King Robert came to visit my father Lord Eddard." She lowered her big brown eyes and mumbled, "I'm Arya Stark."

Jaime had never paid much attention to Arya Stark, but it seemed to him that this girl was older. "I understand you're to be married."

"I am to wed Lord Bolton's son, Ramsay. He used to be a Snow, but His Grace has made him a Bolton. They say he's very brave. I am so happy."

Then why do you sound so frightened? "I wish you joy, my lady." Jaime turned back to Steelshanks. "You have the coin you were promised?"

"Aye, and we've shared it out. You have my thanks." The northman grinned. "A Lannister always pays his debts."

"Always," said Jaime, with a last glance at the girl. He wondered if there was much resemblance. Not that it mattered. The real Arya Stark was buried in some unmarked grave in Flea Bottom in all likelihood. With her brothers dead, and both parents, who would dare name this one a fraud? "Good speed," he told Steelshanks. Nage raised his peace banner, and the northmen formed a column as ragged as their fur cloaks and trotted out the castle gate. The thin girl on the grey mare looked small and forlorn in their midst.

The bride raised her eyes. Brown eyes, shining in the candlelight. "I will be a good wife to him, and t-true. I ... I will please him and give him sons. I will be a better wife than the real Arya could have been, he'll see."

Talk like that will get you killed, or worse. That lesson he had learned as Reek. "You are the real Arya, my lady. Arya of House Stark, Lord Eddard's daughter, heir to Winterfell." Her name, she had to know her name. "Arya Underfoot. Your sister used to call you Arya Horseface."

"It was me made up that name. Her face was long and horsey. Mine isn't. I was pretty." Tears spilled from her eyes at last. "I was never beautiful like Sansa, but they all said I was pretty. Does Lord Ramsay think I am pretty?"

"Yes," he lied. "He's told me so."

"He knows who I am, though. Who I really am. I see it when he looks at me. He looks so angry, even when he smiles, but it's not my fault. They say he likes to hurt people."

"My lady should not listen to such ... lies."

"They say that he hurt you. Your hands, and ..."

His mouth was dry. "I ... I deserved it. I made him angry. You must not make him angry. Lord Ramsay is a ... a sweet man, and kindly. Please him, and he will be good to you. Be a good wife."

"Help me." She clutched at him. "Please. I used to watch you in the yard, playing with your swords. You were so handsome." She squeezed his arm. "If we ran away, I could be your wife, or your ... your whore ... whatever you wanted. You could be my man."

Theon wrenched his arm away from her. "I'm no ... I'm no one's man." A man would help her. "Just ... just be Arya, be his wife. Please him, or ... just please him, and stop this talk about being someone else."

Jeyne, her name is Jeyne, it rhymes with pain. The music was growing more insistent. "It is time. Wipe those tears from your eyes." Brown eyes. They should be grey. Someone will see. Someone will remember. "Good. Now smile."

The girl tried. Her lips, trembling, twitched up and froze, and he could see her teeth. Pretty white teeth, he thought, but if she angers him, they will not be pretty long. When he pushed the door open, three of the four candles fluttered out. He led the bride into the mist, where the wedding guests were waiting...

What was it the girl had said, before the godswood? They all said that I was pretty. She was not pretty now. He could see a spiderweb of faint thin lines across her back where someone had whipped her.
