Tyrells, Varys and fAegon

I'm saying that Tyrells are playing a double game, that they are unsure of their Lannister allies and have a plan B, so to say, one that involves fAegon. They are keeping options open, should things not go their way with the Lannisters. And that's the case by the end of Feast.

So, why involve themselves in the Wot5k? because the fAegon option was unknown to them at the time the war started.

If they are unsure of their Lannisters allies why would they tie in so closely with them? Will Mace or whoever is pulling the strings be so willing to sacrifice Margaery and Loras when fAegon shows up?

I know people do not always wear their house colours but this is right when we meet Lazy Leo so the colours may be used to reinforce who he is.

Well, as this is the question I'm asking in the OP, I'm not really required to answer I think. :) It's a question, that's for sure.

It was sort of meant to be rhetorical... like they have no reason to risk tying their house to allies they dont trust if they are playing a double game. They could've supported Joffrey and Tywin without marrying Margaery off and tying her up. In fact, they would be in a better position to ally with fAegon if MArgaery were available to be married.

So you are saying the Tyrells are playing a double game and are prepared to double cross the Lannisters I'm asking why they would tie themselves so closely with them if that was the case? No you don't need to answer but the answer is they have no reason to.

They are playing the game of thrones and as we have seen time and again it is shortsighted

While the JonCon/Golden Company plan of attack does not include Mace Tyrell, that is not to say that all Tyrells are excluded. At the start of Feast we see Lazy Leo Tyrell openly toasting Daenerys Targaryen - so clearly not all Tyrells are on board the Tyrell-Lannister love train. The Tyrells went from mere stewards to lords of Highgarden after the conquest, and so it is not unreasonable to think that other Tyrells, or major Tyrell bannermen, would be willing to support any sort of Targaryen restoration project to usurp Mace.

As for Aegon and Daenerys, the Tyrells are still in a position to make a deal. While Aegon may not want a thrice-married bride, the fact remains that Margaery and Tommen's marriage has not been consummated. Should the Tyrells withdraw strategically to Highgarden (to let Margaery recover from the stress of her trial, for example) and leave the Lannisters in King's Landing, Margaery may have her marriage set aside or be widowed. Alternatively, should the Tyrells wish to hitch themselves to Daenerys's train, they have Willas to offer. He is Mace's heir apparent, and from what we have heard of him seems to be educated and cultured. The Tyrells were among the last to bend the knee to Robert, and could renew their alliance to the Targaryens with Daenerys, and seal the deal with a marriage.

But we know GRRM is fond of metaphors and imagery! ...have you bothered reading the food code thread? People complain about GRRM's fascination with food all the time, but surely, food porn is a good way to pass along hidden messages. Isn't it? I'm not saying it's 100 % imagery at every meal, but... some things are recurrent, Arbor Gold is one of them, for example.

Yes, he is fond of metaphor, but not EVRYTHING has a hidden meaning. Just because Arbor Gold is being consumed does not mean that person is lying EVERY time. I just think with everything else going on in this chapter, and all the other issues that pop up as far as the Tyrells being married to the Lannister rule now, it would be very strange if your theory was correct. Maybe the Tyrells can disassociate themselves, or betray Tommen at the right time, but I dont think it is likely.
