Little Bird of the North
Does he not promise them the Eyrie in A Game of Thrones? There's been no mention of that since Tyrion actually made the deal with them. Is there something I'm missing?

There is no end of the War by the end of the Clash so that means no Eyrie yet Quote I dont know how many books have you read,to not spoil you farther. But basically he didn't promise them the Vale without a fight. What he did do was arm them such that they can actually hope to stand a chance in fights against the knights of the Vale, so that they can "take it" for themselves. John Suburbs
Tyrion's original plan was that he was going to walk into Tywin's camp and Tywin would give him armor and weapons and everything else he needed to walk them right back out again to attack the Vale. Poor sad, silly Tyrion.

Poor sad, silly Tyrion. I dont think he ever believed that, at least these are my feelings from what I have read.
