Yeah I dont get why renshaw would be criticised he is only 20 in his 4th test and batted through the day making 167 while warner made a fast 113 but was back in the sheds just after lunch if warner had just a tiny piece of that patience it could have turned into a huge innings but he quite often gets out pretty quickly after making 3 figures.

They were both great innings but I think Renshaw is exactly what the australian cricket team needs as a foil for warner

Haha Malt. I read this week that Australia now has more foreign-born players than England, with Khawaja (Pakistan), Renshaw (England), Cartwright (Zimbabwe) and O'Keefe (Malaysia) all being born overseas. The English have Jennings (South Africa) and Stokes (New Zealand). A far cry from the days of Strauss, Pietersen, Prior and Trott...

Never fear X-Ray! India v Australia tests start on Feb 23.

Nice work from Younis and Ali yesterday to drag Pakistan (slightly) out of the mire. The wicket should suit their batsmen more than the 'Gabba and the SCG, so there is some hope for them yet.

So it's come down to Day 5, Aussies needing 9 wickets and Pakistan needing to survive.

Despite the 2-0 scoreline and the fact that the Aussies have won the vast majority of sessions, it's a credit to the Pakistanis (and the rain) that each Test has gone well into the final day, they've had an individual century in each Test and got contributions from the lower order. If anything it's been the bowling, usually such a strength of Pakistani sides, that has been a bit ordinary.

Misbah's last chance to make any sort of impact with the bat. The other batsmen (Azhar, Shafiq, Younus) have all scored centuries so it's only Misbah and Babar who have gone missing.

The Test series against Sri Lanka is going very well for SA. We won the first two Tests quite comfortably, helped in no small part by the tendency of the Sri Lankan batsmen to throw their wickets away on good batting surfaces. We were in a bit of trouble this morning at 45/2 on a lively pitch but JP and Amla batted superbly to steady the ship. Given how the SL batters have fared so far, it is going to take a minor miracle for them to get anything out of this Test. The only disappointment has been the situation with Abbott and Rossouw signing Kolpak contracts. Looks like they will not play for SA again.

Same problem as the tests, they just can't apply any pressure with the spinners. If you're giving Kohli 20 odd overs in the middle of the game when he can pretty much do whatever he wants you're going to struggle to defend any target.

You have to give Jadhav some credit here it wasn't just Kohli .He was the one who changed the match here and lifted some pressure off Kohli .

I can't believe Bangladesh failed to at least force a draw in Wellington. Pretty depressing, but credit to NZ for the amazing comeback.

Meanwhile, Pakistan actually have a reasonable chance of upsetting Australia in a (fairly meaningless) ODI series. They should have won the first ODI after having Australia reeling at five down, then defeated the Aussies comfortable at the 'G. The WACA is next, but Australia will be without Starc...

Australia are apparently desperate enough for advice about how to bowl spin in India that they've asked an Englishman for help, although naturally not anyone who was on England's most recent tour but the incomparable figure of Monty Panesar.

If Monty could also give them some advice on fielding before the next Ashes series, that would be good.

We're going to be bludgeoned to death in India on both counts.

Are our spinners not that good (apart from Lyon, and he didn't exactly light up the Sri Lankan tour) so I expect the Indian batsmen will feast on them. Man I saw Kohli and Jadhav in that successful 350+ chase and they tonked spinners for 6 at will.

And our batsmen are also hopeless against spin. On non-turning Australian wickets, the unheralded Pakistani ODI spinners have been tying us in knots.
