I missed that.  Is that the real tag line?  I thought the ranters made that up to mock the show for putting all women on the ET cover story?  I've thought all this time it was ranting satire.  That is something the show put forward?  OMG.  The fuck?

Now, if you're up to some insane reading, look no further:

The most important part of the scene, which is magnificently shot, b]is Sansa's decision to become an active figure in the battle for Winterfell.[/b] She's no longer a pawn of whoever she's married to or Littlefinger, her mother's friend who's helped her get back to her childhood home. Instead, she is a warrior and a queen, ready to command other soldiers and actively fight. What she used to mock younger sister Arya for wanting is now a role she's stepping into and learning. It's a crucial moment for one of the most developed characters on the show.

Everything they are trying to do with Sansa and the Sand Snakes, with all the ham fisted attempts at making them empowered and manipulative, trying to play the game. They could have done all that so much better and more naturally if they had just put Arrianne in with something close to her actual story and removed the random murders. Basically if they hadn't screwed up Dorne so badly..

But the world is full of bad TV, what's really upsetting is that the show seems to think what they did should be seen as good/empowering/positive...and that's just fucking gross and despicable.

It is too easy to make a token "feminist" thing in a movie and series to appears to be progressive. In the Hobbit movies (where there is no feminine character) they did it. They created Tauriel a female elf that is a capable fighter, proactive and gentle, but they wasted everything putting her in a lame love triangle and her participation is resumed in to it. In the last film we have the women of Laketown making a speech with weapons in their hand saying "let fight with our men"; I dare you to find any follow scene in the battle where these women appear. It is like they are saying for the ones who criticize the lack of women in this types of movie "Hey, here is the women you wanted and some empowerment speech, can you shut up now?"

In GoT is the same, no matter if they show some women "seizing power in Dorne" if you make this characters hysterical, cheesy and incredible unlikable, or full-metal Sansa commanding troops if it happened because she was raped (a rape that happened because of a huge contrivance). No matter if you have many female characters interacting if in all these interactions they are terrible with each other.

Yup, I figure just chalk things up to a time machine when we can't pause and enlarge the background props for a possible explanation.  Can't even count on D&D for a good game of Clue either.

ETA:  Not all caught up now, trying, but may take til next visit.  Hopefully, I'll be better caught up on the tail end of the threads, hopefully, soon.

I think Westeros is the Lost island. I'm always on the look-out for some gaint foot at some shore missing a body, and a smoke monster to appear any episode now.

Okay. This is a fine example of people getting carried away.

Let me preface this with I'm a huge book!Sansa fan. And, I think, her book character, at times, has taken way too much shit from the fandom, in my opinion. Also, I believe Sansa will play a role in reviving the fortunes of her house.

But, Sansa is neither a warrior, nor soldier. And that is fine. There is nothing wrong with somebody not taking up arms. As Jon explains to Maester Aemon, a chain contains many types of links.

Her all of suddenly being called a soldier, is like me showing up to boot camp in my younger years and telling my drill instructor that I'm a marine, even though I hadn't one iota of training at that point, didn't know how to put on a uniform correctly, and generally, being very young, didn't know shit from shinola where the profession of arms was concerned.

Hilarious. Easier than searching season by season, episode by episode I guess.

And it has to be show watchers........and to an extent message board posters.......

Interesting...but I'm confused.  The actual article seems to directly contradict the title.  In reading the article, it seems that people were not only looking for actual nudity and sex scenes from GoT in anticipation of the s6 premier but they were also searching for porn "inspired" by the show, etc.  So...it seems people don't actually prefer GoT nudity to porn:dunno:

Preaching to the choir here.

At least we know some boners vanished with the last scene.

I don't see it as much different.  If anything, most porn I've seen has better written dialogue and fewer plotholes.

Agree 100%. I love book!Sansa, too. And I'll also add that I HATE that it seems to most people that you have to love Sansa or love Arya, like, these are mutually exclusive things, which is just beyond preposterous. But back to the issue at hand, yes, it's exactly as Jon tells maester Aemon when he's trying to convince him to let Sam "graduate". And the fact that Sansa has to be turned into some warrior to be seen as "worthy" is a fucking joke, as simple as that. And then we have all the not so subtle changes the writers made, "the woman is important too" turns into "girls are stupid"; "are you so craven?" becomes "you sound like a bloody woman", and now every female character becomes a Xena wannabe, and we're supposed to cheer because it's all so empowering? Fuck that.

Yeah, I like both book Sansa and book Arya. I'm very interested to see where Martin takes both of them.

And, for the show runners, it's as if they think only violent men are strong.  Thus, the only way for women to be strong is to be like men:rolleyes:
