It is so weird that if you were told that Batman vs. Superman, X-men vs. Apocalypse, Captain American and Deadpool were coming out - no one on the planet would have picked them in reverse order as far as quality is concerned.

Not necessarily

When I saw Snyder was directing BVS I knew it was gonna be shit

I was nervous when I heard Singer was gonna do a movie with a big end of the world villain, though I didnt expect to be this pathetic, just good rather than great

I had doubts about the brothers pulling off yet another film on the quality of Winter Soldier, though I felt it was pretty good

The only one I wasnt sure about was Deadpool

Well, a lot of fans had figured that Bvs would suck, Apoc would suck, and Deadpool might be awesome. But for, say, some random person who barely knows the characters this is a really weird ranking. BvS should have been an incredibly big, Avengers sized movie. Instead it's not even going to be the best DC movie this year.

I understand what you mean. It´s just whenever most see Snyder's name, they think of 300. When I see his name, I think of Man of Steel and Sucker Punch.:stillsick:

A great review by Devin Faraci at BMD. Some good lines:

"In the case of X-Men: Apocalypse the assembled cast of excellent thespians brings the burning hot energy of embarrassment felt by a kid whose mom walked in on him masturbating. It’s a movie where everyone on screen is clearly ashamed of what they’re doing, and with good reason."

On JLaw: "Every now and again there is life in her eyes, and you realize that her phone buzzed in her pocket alerting her that her paycheck has been deposited."

"Olivia Munn, by the way, may not have been aware that the camera was rolling in any of her scenes."

Haha. I still wish I hadn't watched this, but at least I'm getting some entertainment out of it.

This review is just perfect.

But 300 is equally bad... and even disgusting.

Doesn't mean anything, Snyder is not directing.

His thumbprint is all over it though. He is an Executive Producer. Warner and DC can start having my money again when he is no longer attached to the franchise.

An executive producer doesnt actually do things like tell actors how to act or cameramen how to shoot. He doesnt control the creative aspect of it.

They certainly do have major influence in the story however... The problem with MoS was not the acting, or the cinematography. It was a complete disregard to the character, and abysmal writing.

Here is a review of XMen Apocalypse that I feel to be more accurate. Again, the movie wasn't horrible, it just wasn't nearly as good as the other installments.

Yeah, but im one of the those guys who values characters a thousand times more than overall story or plot.

Just read it, I feel like this guy has lost his mind.

Another thing, for a big disaster porn movie, it felt unbelievably small. Apoc and his Horsemen enacted a semi-Apocalypse, and you saw no people, anywhere. It felt like the X-Men and Team Apoc were the only characters on the planet. Maybe that's why everyone could pretend Magneto didn't commit mass genocide -- we saw nobody die. We saw nobody, period -- I get why we didn't see anyone die. It's a thing with these movies. But where is everyone? It was just weird. As big as the stakes were, because it didn't feel like anyone else was in the movie, you never really felt the sense of impending doom.

I would've bumped this movie up a whole grade if they would've given us the final action sequence in their end-of-movie costumes. Missed opportunity.

Thinking more about the film, I think the finale (once Apocalypse and the Horsemen have starter wreaking destruction) is the weakest bit of it. The scenes of vast CGI destruction with no emotional impact felt more like they were directed by Michael Bay than Singer.

It is completely screwing up characters that is my number one complaint about Snyder. Poor script writing fallas a distant second.

As to this XMen movie, it wasn't horrible. it was just not up to expectations. There was quite a bit I enjoyed about the movie.

Yeah, but again he is not the director, a director can salvage all of this, even if the executive producer fucks up. The opposite can happen too, which we saw with Man of Steel.

That's cool that you think that way, but once again I dont agree with you, I did feel like the movie was terrible and there was very little I liked about it.

Just saw it and it was basically what I expected it to be. I just wanted it to end and it seemed like it never would. Quicksilver was the highlight again and some decent action scenes, I guess. I'm beating a dead horse(that's been dead for months) but I couldn't get over the way Apocalypse looked everytime he was on screen...just wtf. I'm sure everything's been said already on here...mehh.

Oh, Sophie Turner was awful too.

I gave it a 3/10 Turner and Apocalypse just kill the whole film

It wasn't entirely awful for me but those two things definitely were. My expectations weren't too high so that obviously helped. But only a few years ago I wouldn't have believed that I wouldn't be excited for an X-Men movie featuring Apocalypse, but there you have it.
