Ser Ridiculous
Hello everyone, first post on these boards but I've been reading for a while. I'm on a re-read of the series right now. Early in the war, the Riverlands get their troops smashed near the Golden Tooth, and then Jaime's host closes in on RR. Edmure Tully chose to fight outside the walls, despite being outnumbered. He could have chosen to lock his door, wait for them to divide, then attempt a sortie. He could have waited for Robb. He could have done lots of things that seem better to me tactically. I would understand going out and meeting him in the field to protect the smallfolk, but right outside the walls like that? Anyone has any idea, except "Edmure's dumb"? Bright Blue Eyes
Riverrun was too small for the assembled Riverlords. Harrenhal is the only castle* that can accomodate a large army inside its walls. * Actually, it's no proper castle in the ordinary sense but a fortress more akin to 18th century military doctrine.
