I don't really understand what GSP is thinking. Him saying give me a fight for UFC 206 or I'm a free agent doesn't work.

It seems to be a bit more byzantine. It seems like the UFC have to give their "contractors" fight offers every so often and just...failed to give GSP one in time. They floated a fight with an injured Lawler with no actual formal agreement. So he's claiming he's out and getting ready to defend his claim in court.

No one has any idea why the UFC didn't offer, speculation is: someone either fucked up royally or the UFC's new exclusive deal with Reebok is cutting across GSP's sponsorships in a way that's hard to resolve (i.e. they can't let him go to a fight with his sponsors and he can't/won't cancel them), so they're trying to muddy the waters or try to sort of wait him out.

I find the whole thing confusing. If GSP's old contract included him being allowed to have sponsors, then it seems that he wouldn't be held to the Reebok deal. If they offered him a fight it would be according to his old contract, right? If they want to cancel that old contract to fit him in the Reebok deal then it seems that he would be freed to pursue other opportunities.

That's the speculation. GSP doesn't want to give up sponsors and the UFC either doesn't want to or cannot make an exception, either cause it is a breach of contract or it sets a bad precedent for Ronda et. al. and yet they obviously don't want to let him go.

We'll see.

UFC 207 already has Rousey vs Nunes, just read that Cain vs Werdum is also expected, plus Cruz vs Garbrandt, which I think is a great matchup as well.

I expected Cain's next fight would be a title fight against Miocic though. But first he needs to go through Werdum, which will be nice to watch.

Some early predictions for UFC 205:

Khabib to destroy Johnson

Edgar vs Stephens could be very interesting, but Edgar has to win this after losing to Aldo. Stephens has to win if he is ever to be seen as a contender. I'll go for Stephens.

Tate to beat Pennington

Cerrone to continue a run of wins by beating Gastelum. Hopefully it will be close.

Weidman beats Romero

Joanna wins her fight.

Woodley beats Thompson

Alvarez beats McGregor

Great fight between Dos Anjos vs Ferguson. At some point I thought Ferguson would really finish it but it never got that far.

Dos Anjos had some nice hits of his own and they really landed, but Ferguson just walked through it.

Yeah there are a lot of fighters I'd like to see Conor take on, win or loss.

Aldo and Holloway in bantamweight. Edgar as well.

In lightweight man, Ferguson sure, but Dos Anjos would give him a very hard time as well I think. And of course there's Khabib...

But Dana white teased sometime ago that Conor has a big announcement coming after 205.

So Jones is officially suspended for 1 year (retroactive to July 6th), with the reason for his positive test being a contaminated erectile dysfunction pill.

What a world.

Everyone is on contaminated penis pills. It was Anderson's excuse and Yoel had a similar "tainted supplement" justification too.Interesting coincidence: Yoel's agent, Malki, also reps Jones...

At a certain point the optics get bad...

And the contents of his character were already highly questionable even before failing the PED test (for two substances). And his brothers are in the PED-riddled NFL. And one of them also failed a PED test.

I mean, seems kind of shady as heck if you ask me ...

The pills contained a third banned substance but that somehow didn't show up in Jones' failed test. Also, the teammate who gave him the pills had also bought banned substances and gave dodgy testimony ...
