Over the last 2 months (since the first week of August) I've lost 73 lbs. I feel like I've cheated doing it this way though. But I'm resolved to use this as a springboard for when I feel better to continue eating healthier and adding exercise to my daily routine.

Nah, it's not cheating.  Just enjoy it!

Adderall: there were several reports that adderall use has migrated from students to professionals.  I haven't noticed it but just like PEDs in sports, some people will feel they need to take it to not be left behind.

My random thought: I cannot recognize famous people out of context.  There's a Chicago Bull in my condo building plus a couple of BlackHawks, plus at least one famous actress who I see regularly at our building gym with her trainer.  I had no idea who they were until it was pointed out to me.  I even chatted sports in the elevators with the pro players at various times and didn't realize that their reference to their team or playing a game tomorrow night was anything other than a pick-up game somewhere.  I never recognize people out of context.  My wife thinks I must be on the autism spectrum.

I must be on that spectrum too.  I virtually never recognize anyone famous.  My husband points them out to me often.  I think it must be part of being an introvert in my case - totally wrapped up in my own thoughts.  He, OTOH, is the classic extrovert - he directs his attention outward.

Hi people. I was gone for a while but now I'm less gone.

Glad to see you back again!  I actually thought another poster was you and that you had changed your title.  :dunce:

Man buns:  Yes or no?

Personally, I don't mind them, up until I hear the term "man bun."

Sounds more like mild prosopagnosia?

Yes, but then I also like skinny jeans and woollen sweaters on guys and find that almost every guy looks better with big square hipster glasses on his face, so, as I recently said in TTTNE, do not ever trust me with giving fashion advice, ever. :leaving:

I have a theory that underground trains are not at all what they appear to be. I mean, they are long, train-like things hat rush through underground tunnels, but I bet they have minds of their own and are just letting us think that we have them under our control ... while really they are dangerous animals crawling under the earth and probably plotting world dominance, planning to devour us all some day. You cannot trust things (animals?) that never come up to the surface of the earth.

Where does the London Underground fall on that spectrum then? Actual trains with ocassionally dips underground? Or dangerous animal that frequently comes to the surface?

Hmmm good point, I forgot about those that sometimes come to the surface. I would say those are the ones that are the most devious and vicious and are already halfway into their world domination plot. :ninja: Creepy things.

I get chills when I brush my teeth, and when I see (and/or hear) other people brush their teeth, in movies and the like. Am I the only one who gets that?

What gives you chills?

Music gives me chills. Other things give cooties, like people who sit with their work clothes on their beds. I don't like the cross-contamination, as I see it.

I hope you get better soon, and wow, well done on the weight loss :) The method doesn't matter, just go with it and best of luck!

Instructions for tablets: "One per day, with or without food."

If it doesn't matter whether it's accompanied by food or not, why bother mentioning it? "One per day, whilst wearing or not wearing socks." "One per day, when sunny, cloudy or raining."

Sooo, did you take it with food, or not? :P With socks, or not?

Dont let yourself or anyone you know, get on Adderall. If you are on Adderall, get off it immediately.

I've taken Adderall and now Vyvanse on and off for 5 years now. It's not something to be done lightly, but it depends on the individual. The effects/addictiveness, etc. vary tremendously. I'd rate it somewhere between "the best thing that'a ever happened to me" and "a pain in the ass risk to manage." It is a goal of mine to someday quit it altogether. FWIW, Vyvanse is a lot less like snorting lines of Rx'd cocaine. Won't touch Adderall anymore (stands for ADD for all!). I can't believe people give it to children.

And I'll remember this, and am sorry to hear about your friend.

ETA: I should add, I quit taking it during pregnancy, against the advice of 2 OBs. No shit. I also quit those OBs.

Eek, I avoid sitting on the bed with any clothes I have been wearing outside home, not just for work. That is why I usually cover my bed during the day, then I can sit/lay on it in everything.

I made a pumpkin!!! I mean, carved a pumpkin. Made a carved Jack-o-lantern pumpkin. Whatever. I made a pumpkin! I'm really please with the way it came out and think that more things should be carved. Carving is not a typical mode of production any more and that is wrong. But pumpkins with faces are great and I'm pleased about that. +1 America.

-1 America for rural-suburb type places where there are more deer than people and no one will pass by on foot, opportuning them to see my pumpkin, but still.

Also, America is weird. People smile a lot and there's a great deal of parking spots.

So, I've been involved the last six months or so with a local alternative medicine group.  My family and I had all got these terrible bug bites awhile back, and nothing the doctors prescribed worked.  We went to allergy specialists and it just got worse and worse.  Finally, one of the other families from our church turned us on to this group.  They aren't a bunch of dopey hippies or anything but some of them are into crystals and stuff which kind of scared us.  It seemed... Satanic.

Well long story short, the one thing that seemed to help with the itching was sugary foods.  The girls were going into 711 and just downing big Gulps before sed left the parking lot, and we were buying the industrial sized bags of Swedish fish and pixie sticks.  I found myself besotted with Ovaltine and whoppers.

Well, one of the women in the alt health group gave us some local honey and it worked wonders.  I started sneaking it into the girls instant breakfasts and my wife and I had a spoonful each in our decaf tea in the morning and at bed.

Within about 72 hours, the welts had subsided and the itching was barely palpable.  We keep some in the glove box now.

Anyway, while the honey was a smashing success, I'm starting to worry were the victims of a scam.  We pay a decent weekly fee for a supplement basket, and while it isn't outright suspicious or anything, there have been some homeopathic stuff, and home made yogurts that are supposed to have special 'probies'.

This one guy (who I know has a marijuana prescription) has been trying to sell us some "manatee cheese".  This isn't in the groups weekly basket, it's a side deal.  He does have a house down in the keys and is a big time fisherman (is also the guy that makes the yogurt and has chickens), but this seems a little far-fetched.  It's supposed to have all these great properties, but it sounds legally questionable (do manatees even have milk?!?!) And could it even be safe?  And what do the manatee kits eat if there isn't enough milk?

A few other members have been buying it and are loving it.  I want to ask some church friends but am worried about getting the family that introduced us to the alt med group in trouble (most of the alt med group are vocal nonbelievers).

On the other hand, the honey was a legitimate miracle and everyone else is raving about the manatee cheese.

Anyone have any first hand or even second hand experience with this?

God bless, thanks!
