jontargaryan
The Baratheons are all dead, and due to Cersei's prophecy once Tommen dies that officially ends the Baratheon line The Martells are all dead The Tullys are extinct considering Edmure dies and Blackfish will not marry The Arryns are probably dead once Robin dies and Littlefinger takes control of the Vale If Loras remains a prisoner, that is the end of House Tyrell And Finally considering Daenarys cant have children, House Targaryan is already dead It seems like the Lannisters are the only house that can survive into the future
Bogdan
And House Stark. Bran, Jon, Arya, Sansa,Rickon for now. And Lannisters are also on shacky ground. Cercei, Jamie, and their children will die. Lancel also. Kevan is dead from either Varys, Qyburn or Littlefinger hand. So it seems that the main Lannister line is going to bite the dust. Future Null Infinity
for me, this totally normal, in any war or conspiracy there are winners and losers, and when you lose a war your house is destroyed

One of the reasons the war of the roses was as destructive as it became was because noble houses never died out - surviving member were ransomed back and later sought to avenge their dead relatives. One of the reasons for this is that contrary to what ASOIAF and GOT show, ancient noble houses had too many would be inheritors, not too few. Genalogy and family ties were so important because it meant that even when a Lord died without children, his extended noble family could be found and start the House again anew. A slightly cynical response to the question in this thread would be to point out that killing off houses wraps up certainly storylines quickly and cheaply, which is important when there are only 20 odd episodes to go before the end of the series. A final point - if anything bad happens to Rickon then House Stark is extinct as well; Bran can't have children, I can't see Benjen getting back into the dating game, and Jon is a bastard (or a prominent member of another house entirely). Mayura
Well, some of the great Houses won't die as such, as there are probably more potential branches and cousins that we have never heard of on the show or in the books (and, IIRC, GRRM did say so himself, that there were uncles, cousins etc that he didn't talk about). So if the obvious heirs (the ones these stories are about) end up kicking the bucket, there will always be a relative to whom the House can go. It is just that the current direct branches of most Houses are endangered. I quite like the fact that the show is endangering most major Houses. It shows that family pride and entitlement isn't everything.
Daniel Niemietz Braz
Looks like the transition of the feudal age to modern age.
WinterPool Stark
In the tv show - The Frays will be the only ones left as they're a massive family. All the others will die out. In the books - loads of cousins, brothers etc still wandering about between Westeros and Essos
TheSerb
That's what happens when characters are condensed together. While in the books there might be three brothers, so if one dies the other two continue the family line, in the show those three brothers are condensed into a single character. And when he dies, boom it's over.
U-238A
Could very well be the point of the story - Everyone is so wrapped up in nobility/power much like today's society is with popularity/status. All stories have overarching themes or morals in the end.
