People may not believe me, but I'd actually anticipated a 1-1 draw in this.

Sure, because Portugal didn't score, when they had fantastic opportunities like Cr. Ronaldo had....

It's amazing how much like Ronaldo Ronaldo's twin brother looks.

Hungary and Iceland first and second after the first matchday. Who would have predicted that?

I knew I was justified in my dislike for Cristiano Ronaldo.

He is annoying. A brilliant player, but so hyped up in every tournament, you can't help feeling frustrated at his inability to rescue games.

Plus that shitty sportsmanship in not shaking hands with your opponents after the game.

Go Iceland! Considering a tenth of their population was at the game that was a great performance/achievement.

Am I to understand the Hungarian keeper was playing in sweatpants?

Yup, they're his lucky charm for nearly twenty years now.

So Hungary is the best team in the group, and Iceland soundly defeated Portugal 1-1... I love this sport.

I remember Scotland beat them twice in the qualifiers for the WC years ago, and they were a solid side with a good work ethic back then in spite of both times narrowly losing, and I wish the best for them.

And that was just on the subs bench. :P

Seriously, great game, great result, great day. The tournament so far has been excellent. Just the right mix of surprise results, every game I've seen has been pretty good. There were many worries about the standards dropping with the expansion but the 'smaller' teams have showed those to be unfounded. :)

I've just discovered that out of the last 156 free kicks Ronaldo has taken, he has scored just eleven times.

Not that bad considering he shoots from anywhere on the pitch.

Does that include kick-offs? Some impressive jumping from him though.

Ronaldo after the match:

"They celebrated like they had won the Euro cup or something. That's a small mentality. That's why they'll do nothing."

Classy.
