How oddly fitting that you bumped it today

Funny.  Your post had me confused until I Googled Taylor Swift tonight.  Odd timing indeed.

I bumped the thread because I had read the 150 million story for Craig...  Wonder how Hiddleston feels about missing out on Bond for a three month fling and living in infamy in a soon to be released break up song?

Kanye might not even think having sex with Taylor is worth that...

I wonder if they were considering giving it to Hiddleston at all, and if they were then did his Swift fling ruin it. Seems like extreme desparation to go back to Craig, who clearly doesn't want it, and personally I feel like he hasn't even been trying since Casino Royale.

I dunno, but I guess that the actors image is kind of tied into how Bond is perceived, having Bond played by some love sick little puppy isn't conducive to the typical suave ladies man. Hiddleston could play that role easily however.

Ok, some googling produced this article.

Utter nonsense, if you ask me.

I would have preferred a rebooted series but in the same, more serious and less gimmicky vein as the last few movies. Spectre was a pretty conclusive movie to both the franchise and Bond's character (though it was also one of the most disappointing movies to me this decade). I can't see where they take the character or story from here that builds something greater than the previous events and villains unless it's a kind of standalone movie.

yeah... I agree... the gimmicks and unbelievable departures from plausibility make these movies less enjoyable... which is why Casino Royale was so friggin' fantastic....

The thing that bothered me, is that they were building the Quantum storyline.... and then all of a sudden... *poof*.... we're back to Spectre... same shit... different name... and it was all because they wanted to shoehorn in Blofield

Wasn't it more because they didn't have the rights to use Spectre at first?

I've actually wanted a serious Spectre movie for several years and that was part of my massive hype towards Spectre. But the execution was so terrible. The Blofeld reveal that fooled no one, literally stringing together photos of the previous villains to show how they're connected together... just ugh. And the icing on the cake: Bond has brain surgery on him to complete his transformation to an apathetic womanizer who can never commit to or fall in love with a woman.. but it doesn't work because.... LOVE!!!!

Give me a fucking break.

Yeah... thats my understanding.... I understand why they went with Quantum for the first two DC movies.... but there was no transition ... just "forget the past few movies... because... Blofield"

Apparently Danny Boyle is out and a couple names I’m seeing mentioned to replace him are Edgar Wright and Jean-Marc Vallée (Sharp Objects & Big Little Lies). Either would be interesting choices.

Edgar Wright would definitely be interesting to say the least.

With Danny Boyle leaving due to "creative differences" with the producers and Craig, and Edgar Wright already experiencing first hand what creative differences can lead to when he left the first Ant-Man, I'd be kinda surprised if he was interested.

I'd like to see something a bit more upbeat and lighthearted the next go-around. The last ones have been solid, but so damn somber. Not as quite as free and loose as the Man From UNCLE reboot, but closer to that than a Jason Bourne potboiler. Wright would probably steer it that direction.
