The Weirwoods Eyes
No he is not. He demonstrates standard adolescent behaviour and is a realistic character because of that. He slowly grows and matures throughout the series in a believable manor using his experiences and interactions with others to develop his beliefs and understanding of the world around him in a manor which enables the reader to relate to his development. To be fair, some people would say that being a whiny emo is standard adolescent behavior. On the other hand, I think Jon is always looking for practical solutions to his problems, and knows how to look on the brightside, even at the start. At the feast in Winterfell, he thinks about how he doesn't get the honor of a high seat, but maybe he prefers the booze of the benches, and while he complains about not fitting in, he has a solution in mind - to join a sworn brotherhood. The Sleeper
He is sullen in Game, but as others have said that is typical teenage behavior. In Dance he is a bit gloomy, but then his father, brothers and lover are dead, one of his sisters is missing and the other had been forcibly married to a sadist, he is facing the ice zombie invasion, a mass migration, a cataclysmic winter and famine without a fraction of the resources required all the while having to deal with obdurate subordinates, a pyromaniac trying to seduce him, an oblivious southron court and Stannis's grinding his teeth. As he isn't an alcoholic yet, I'd say he's doing pretty well.
