South Park S20 is killing it so far. Love the Member Berries, and tonight had this little gem:

"Your daughter has a mustache. WTF is wrong with your ovaries you bitch?"

We really need a South Park thread. I almost died of laughter at the end of the latest episode.

I'm rewatching The Sopranos and I'm at the end of season 2.

Spoiler

Just watched the episode where Janice kills Richie. She's about to leave on the bus and she asks Tony where they put him and Tony replies that they buried him on a hill overlooking the river and she is so touched for a second. Tony is such an asshole, I love it.

I also watched Infernal Affairs recently because I see it gets a lot of praise here and I love The Departed. It was obviously good, but I see many people say they prefer it over The Departed and I just can't see it.

S2 is probably still my favorite of The Sopranos.

Janice being the one to kill Richie, after the culmination of all the bs between him and Tony was a great twist. Richie was such a good antagonist. It's tough to decide who the best one was though. They were all so good (Jr, Richie, Ralphie, Phil, etc). My gf has never seen The Sopranos,  I might do a rewatch soon as well.

I also preferred The Departed btw.

Burning through my rewatch of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Just finished S4. I love this show so much. Easily put it in my top 5 comedy shows. Really hope we get the long awaited S9 at some point. But like with the Deadwood movie, I'll believe it when I see it.

I can't recall a single bad episode of Curb.  My favorite comedy ever.  The only sub par episode I can think of is one of the ones is S5 when Larry's dad tells him he was adopted and he got to find his real family or something like that.  I've only seen it once or twice.  And isn't there one where he goes to heaven?  Maybe the S5 finale? Lol. Either or, S5 redeems itself with The Seder. Off the top of my head I think season 3 and 4 are my favorite.  The whole sub plot with the restaurant in s3 has some great moments; particularly with Danson. S4 has one of my favorites as well, The Weatherman.

Can't find a topic on it, but Halt and Catch Fire is absolutely my favourite show right now. First season on Amazon has got me hooked. I can't remember the last time I felt so emotionally involved with the characters in a show where I missed them when I turned it off.

And its so funny because the first half an hour I watched of it I thought I would have zero interest in it.

The theme music is awesome too. Great 80's soundtrack.

Will be bingeing season 5 of Longmire which just hit Netflix today. Anxious to see in what direction the show heads after season 4.

Now that I think about it, I can't even remember how last season ended.

Spoiler

The immediate ending was the cliffhanger with Browning kicking open the door to Walt's cabin while him and  Donna Sue were making love. But there were numerous cliffhangers: Henry being arrested by Matthias after he took over Hector's role of vigilante; Cady selling her soul to work for Jacob Night Horse and the casino; the young sheriff from the other county who had a short relationship with Vic. There were  a ton of great arcs last season. Hell, even the Walt/Vic dynamic is interesting. But I'm a Katee Sackhoff fan, so YMMV.

 Thanks.  I'll probably watch a few episodes tonight.

Cady > Vic

We went to see Hell or High Water today... liked it... Ben Foster and Chris Pine were both terrific... I liked the small scope... and It never made me shake my head with hack writing or something impossible... so I'll recommend it...

Saw three trailers before the movie that all mad me cringe though.... "The Girl on the Train" looks really stupid... But not as stupid as "The Accountant" with Ben Affleck...... which wasn't nearly as stupid as "HacksawRidge" another preachy POS from Mel Gibson...  now maybe I'm wrong and all three of these flicks will turn out to be terrific... but their trailers blew hepatitis donkeys

We discussed it in the trailer thread when it first hit, but I like the look of Hacksaw Ridge. It's helped by being based on the sort of true story that is basically impossible for Hollywood to exaggerate.

I think Departed is a better single film than Infernal Affairs but when you take Infernal Affairs as a series it becomes a lot closer (I was a really big fan of the second one)

I thought it looked good too. Not sure how the teaser was "preachy", but whatever. :dunno:

My main problem with the Departed is the ending, which takes a lot of the moral complexity out of the original plot. It does a lot of things better than Infernal Affairs did early on, but those changes really cost it points for me.

Picked up Civil War on BluRay (Got it with a coupon for $10!) and I was hoping to find it better on a second viewing, much like I did for BvS. However, not so much. I got bored with it and found myself taping outta the film after the Black Panther shows up and switched over to the special features--which I did enjoy. I still need to go back and finish the actual film sometime though.

Holy shit yes.... it wasn't a bad movie until the faux plot swerves of everyone unexpectedly murdering one another .... it was like a Vince Russo NWO initiation.... the entire sequence could have been done with steel chairs.

Just watched The Illusionist. Honestly can't be sure if I saw it when it was first released...but I don't think I did. It was ok. A bit obvious and more than a little twee. I suppose it was basically a harmless little fairy tale. I still have to wonder why it ended up getting released in the same year as The Prestige, which is a great film, really a pretty decent adaptation from the book even if it oversimplifies the story.
