Which Tyler
Oh shit, penalty shoot-put in the hockey. Completely differwnt, fairer, and more entertaining than when I played. They say we have the best keeper in the comp, so I'll be pinning my hopes on her!
Which Tyler
Dutch goalie rugby tackles our striker, upgraded to an old-school penalty flick... SCORES!! 1-
Which Tyler
And we take the gold! 3-3 at full time, 5-3 after penalties, well played the girls, absolutely amazing!

ljkeane
I haven't watched any of the tournament but that penalty shoot out was great. Have penalty shoot outs in hockey always been like that? I'm sure it was just penalty strokes when I played at school.
Which Tyler
I 'm sure I noticed the shootout difference in London, but not Beijing, but don't quote me on that. They were certainly penalty flicks when I played (20+ years ago, with many, many other differences). Each Olympics I notice new things that have changed, you're allowed to turn your back on a tackler now, long corners aren't corners, short corners have different regulations, quarters rather than halves etc. I've followed the tourney through, Netherlands comfortably the best team in the tourney on paper, team GB proving that sport just isn't played on paper, and deserved to win all our matches. Dr. Pepper
Is it normal for so many athletes to be wearing the same outlandish shoes? Those neon yellow and pink things are unsightly. Is there some symbolism or significant of the color or is this just a way for Nike to get as much coverage as possible. I'm seeing the kids in the neighborhood wearing them all over the place now. kairparavel
The 4x100 is just so amazing to watch. DeGrasse is going to be a force. ------ Why was the US DQ'd?
Dr. Pepper
I'm not sure, but they were also showing that Japan stepped on the line. But hey, Canada got Bronze!!!! I've been enjoying watching DeGrasse and his crazy arm.
Kyoshi
^^I think they exchanged the baton outside the box. That's my guess.
Kyoshi
Yup. The replay shows that they exchanged outside the box.
kairparavel
I hate winning/losing on technicalities. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CqRG7dgXgAA8kOc.jpg:large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CqRHkmtXgAQHJJn.jpg:large I don't buy the baton exchange thing. The lane thing I do, in which case Japan should be DQ'd too. This is what got Canada DQ'd in 2012 https://cdnolympic.files.wordpress.com/2015/07/gavinline.jpg?quality=
Unlady B
What??? No channel is talking about this in my region. So what are the positions? Jamaica first, then who's silver and bronze if not Japan and the USA?
Kyoshi
We'll see. They're likely to make an official statement of disqualification in a few minutes. But the baton thing was very clear on my replay.

Dr. Pepper
It was definitely the baton exchange for the Americans. At the first exchange, Gatlin started too early and the exchange was way outside of the box area. CBC is saying that Japan is ok because the only time stepping out of the line counts is on the curve.
