This is the clincher for me as well. Ned knows Robert as well as anyone, and doesn't have an unfavourable opinion of him, yet is certain he would kill all the children. martianmister
How can they actually prove incest? Tywin never believe them.
For Highgarden
Jaime and Cersei dead. Joff would say something mouthy and be executed Ned style. The kings gotta have a killing for being duped into believing the incest babies were his. Send Tommen to the wall and Myrcella to the silent sisters. The question of what would Robert do is speculative because the reader knows that Stannis fled KL after JA died. Stannis didn’t make his letters until after both Robert & Eddard were dead. Proof may have been made by producing Robert’s bastards at court. Provide that history book JA read. If JA & Stannis had displayed Robert’s bastards & the history book the King would be wrathful indeed. Just didn’t work that way in the novels because LF supposedly had Lysa poison JA and Stannis fled to Dragonstone. If JA & Stannis had been able to display Robert’s bastards and the history book it would have cast enough suspicion to have Cersei, maybe not Jaime, accused of treason. Besides, according to Cersei, she and King Bob were”t doing the wild thang. That would be a major red flag, as it pertains to the conception Mycella & Tommen. The charge is adultery. That is an act of treason against the King. As to what Tywin would do – numerous posters gave their thoughts about that in previous pages. FfC Jaime IV "Do not think ill of the queen," Lancel pleaded. "All flesh is weak, Jaime. No harm came of our sin. No . . . no bastard." FfC Jaime IV " He wondered what his cousin would say if he were to confess his own sins, the three treasons Cersei had named Joffrey, Tommen, and Myrcella. Megaera
Would Jaime actually deny it? He's always thinking that he and Cersei should go public with their relationship, so I get the impression that if he was actually directly accused he would rub Roberts face in it

Endymion I Targaryen
Robert should be given extremely strong evidence to believe that he was not the father of Cersei's children. The only strong proof would be Cersei or Jaime confessing about their children's paternity. Given that, Jaime and Cersei would be killed immediately. Joffrey and Tyrion are possible to die immediately too. Tommen and Myrcella would be spared by Robert but would be killed by Renly/Tyrells if Robert married Margaery. Chris Mormont
I don't think there would have been a trial based on Robert's rage and Jamie's desire to tell the world and kill Robert. It would have been interesting if Robert had went after Jamie himself, since the KG would be there to defend him. Selmy and Robert vs Jamie, I'm not sure Jamie would survive. Ceresi is a dead woman, probably suicide once Jamie is killed. As for the kids, Joffery is unpredictable, if it goes down in front or within earshot of him, he joins the melee and gets killed. Marcella and Tommen are banished maybe even sent North with Ned after Ned pleads for their lives.
