But sometimes, a message just can’t wait. It needs to be told in the moment. I will provide a character, an acronym, and a scenario each round. Create a tweet from this character to describe their mood, to whinge a bit, to celebrate the moment, or just to self-promote. What would this person say at that very moment? Special thanks to @Lady Blizzardborn for this lovely theme. The rules below have been tweaked just a tad to accommodate this mode of communication. Though the twitterverse has a language all its own, let’s please try to stay close to English for our game Sing my little birds, sing! The rules: Spoiler 1. There will be 8 rounds. 2. Each round will begin with a new name, scenario and a new acronym. The objective is to create a tweet from the person, at that very moment, using only the letters provided in the acronym. 3. Entries must only contain words that begin with the letters the acronym provided; therefore, you may not stick in a word like a, the, of, and, etc to make your words make sense. The character count for our game is 80. Every single character in a Tweet counts as one for the purposes of the character count. This includes not only letters and numbers, but also spaces and other punctuation. Emojis will cost 3 from the character count. That’s because you can say a lot with a wink ;-) Hashtags (#) are allowed. The “#” itself counts as 1 from your character count. Each word in the hashtag must correspond to the letters in the acronym. (e.g. #TargaryensKickAss, uses acronym letters TKA, and has a character count of 18) Username ref (@) are allowed. The “@” itself counts as 1 from your character count. Each word in the username must correspond to the letters in the acronym*. (e.g. @dragon_queen, uses acronym letters DQ, and has a character count of 13) Abbreviations are allowed and a list of acceptable values has been provided below. I can’t imagine that any would need to be added, but any additions will need to be approved by the host. The first letter of the abbreviation must correspond with the acronym, but the whole abbreviation is counted for characters. (e.g. WTF requires a W in the acronym and counts as 3 characters) 4. Deadlines for each round will be detailed as each round arrives. I will give 48-72 hours at the very least and probably more. I will also adhere to the principle first proposed by the famed European scholar yomi, where the entries will still be accepted after the submission deadlines, but without giving the late entrants their point for submitting. 5. Entries are to be messaged to me through a PM. Title your message Acrophobia 25 - <your Board Name here> and keep all communication to the same messaging thread. You may edit/change your entry until the deadline, but it must be done by sending a new message. 6. When all submissions are in, they will be posted on the thread. Entries are to be anonymous, so do not reveal which is your entry. Revealed entries will be disqualified. 7. Players will then have time to vote for their favourite 4 entries. All votes are public. Submit your votes in a comment on the game thread and make it clear which entry is first, which entry is second, and which entry is third and fourth, in your opinion.You may not vote for your own entry. You may change your vote up until the voting window closes by editing your original voting post. 8. After submissions of one round are over, voting and the submissions for a new round will run simultaneously. 9. Points will be awarded as follows: 1 point for a submission 1 point for voting 3 points for someone choosing your answer as their top choice 2 points for someone choosing your answer as their second choice 1 point for someone choosing your answer as their third choice and any additional places 4 points for having the answer with the most 1st place votes (ties get 2 points each) Bonus Points 2 points each round for being the first to submit, 1 point each for 2nd and third. (you can still edit up to the deadline, without losing the bonus points) 2 points each round to the shortest tweet (ties will get 1 point each) Points will be added across all the rounds and the player with the most points will be the winner. 10. You may join at any time, both during the submission and voting. 11. The video was fun, yet, could you, guys, give a couple of examples of what an entry should look like here? Hashtag and all? (I mainly want to understand the characteristics of the genre that would distinguish the entry from raven mail or SMS.) For example (I hope I'm not spoiling, any of our host's ideas): character: King Robert; scenario: hunting, just discovered the trail of a boar; acronym: VADMALAC (or whatever else you want) - what would be the tweet? It comes to 74 characters plus 3 for the emoji = 77 OMG would count as 1 letter from the acronym, but 3 in character count because it's a common acronym. That means you could use OMG if you were given an acronym of HSOMRFW. It would only count against the "O" We will have to deal with these on a case by case, but things like OMG, WTF, LOL, IMHO, LMAO should be allowed as words. What do you think? Trying to come up with something for Julia's example, I realised how much potential we have here. We are still waiting for a few more players, so we have time to adjust the rules before we begin.
