Harrag Hoare timeline problem.

Recommended Posts

OK, so thing look like this.

Harrag Hoare, who seized Bear Island was according to Damphair chosen by kingsmoot.
Now the problem.

Kingsmoots were abandoned when Greyirons seized the Seastone Chair. They ruled aproximately one millenium.
During Andal invasion Greyirons were destroyed by union of Andal pirates and their own vassals. Then House Hoare become hereditary kings after winning throne in this stupid axe catching game.

Problem is Harrag Hoare was fighting with North ruled by Theon Stark, aka Hungry Wolf.
And Hungry Wolf was also fighting with Andal invasion on Westeros...

Is it only me, or we have some 1500 years long incoherencies?

There's quite a few inconsistencies with Ironborn histories (like the fact that Qhored Hoare supposedly ruled over the Ironborn at their zenith with his descendants losing control over his gains, but who also supposedly ended the line of House Justman despite them ruling long, long after the Ironborn were at their peak), and I choose to believe that's it's because different Ironborn Kings with the same name became conflated with one another in legend, or some other in-universe explanation.

Worse: Damphair states that the Old Kraken (Loron Greyjoy), was chosen by a kingsmoot too. And he was king after Harrag's death.

Another thing: The wiki even tells Harrag and Quored were kings during the Age of Heroes, despite the fact that they fought other kings during/after Andal Invasion (Theon Stark and Bernarr II Justman, respectively).

By the way, those discrepancies were reported and discussed here and here.
