Danerys path to the Iron Throne

By ordering Drogon to open his mouth so she can walk inside and follow her great-great-great aunt Rhaenyra to the same fate that all Targaryens deserve for being insane, incestuous albino tyrants.

The above comment was a bit poisonous even for me, but if the whole series results in the Targaryen dynasty being restored, I'm going to be disappointed.

she won't that was never the point of her story.

the story is about the starks they are the heroes of the story, Dany is just another road block the starks will have to over come to save the world. the whole point of the story is everyone that wants the iron throne is someone that shouldn't have it and this includes Dany.  the only people that care about the WW/others and have no interest in taking the throne are Jon and bran so they will be the people that end up in power.

Dany will help the starks save westeros but it won't be her leading it and she won't take power after it either.

Aside from the argument about her ever becoming queen of the 7K, I think that any decent ruler will have the best counselors to help with the governing.

Of course you will always be taking a risk on who you appoint to those prominent positions. Obviously you don't want a money-laundering embezzling weasel like Baelish as Master of Coin, or a Master of Ships of dubious loyalty. You do need people you can trust.

I have been thinking that perhaps a way to settle the matter would be to conduct "try-outs" for the council positions. Names are submitted through the 8 LPs. LP's may not submit their own names, but may be allowed to apply by invitation.

Short lists are developed (3-4 names to each position). The prospective council members prove their capabilities and loyalty during a trial period (2-4 months maybe). After the trial period, a new group of potentials take their place and a new trial period begins.

Reviews are conducted for each applicant by two of Dany's most trusted (Barristan and Tyrion?). The prospective council members will also compose reviews of the council members of their respective trial period. Hopefully identifying any pre-arranged alliances that will be detrimental to the crown.

This process will likely be time-consuming at the beginning of Dany's rule, and may not be feasible considering the condition of Westeros is currently in. But ideally, for a new ruler who has no prior experience with any of those in power, this would help immensely.

She will never sit the Iron Throne for the simple fact that Cersei will burn it down in wildfire along with Red Keep and King's Landing.

George RR Martin has said himself that there will be multiple people siting the iron throne before the end of the books and so far there has only really been Joffrey and Tommen.

When he said that, Joffrey was a king. Tommen and Cersei are next. Neitner Aegon nor Dany will sit Iron Throne. They might technically rule everything in Southern Westeros except King's Landing, but Mad Queen will never give the power up till she is dead.

How would you advise Danerys with the goal of her becoming a successful queen?

a- Fly Drogon to impress the dothraki

b- lead the dothraki to save Mereen

c- Seal a deal with Victarion that you'll appoint him Lord Paramount of the iron isles if he bend the knee and do my bidding.

d- Land in the Vale. Fly drogon to the Eyrie, which will make Sweet Robin shit in his pants. He'll bend the knee soon afterwards

e- Once the Vale is secure, send ravens to Mace proposing him a deal. The Tyrells had been loyal to the crown and that won't be forgotten. If they bend the knee then Willas will marry the queen becoming King, Margaery will be pardoned and Garlan will be appointed Lord of Dragonstone. That's a far better deal then what the Lannister bastards can offer so he should accept.

f- Set a wedding between Willas and Danny at the Vale. During the wedding event, Tyrell forces will pouring into KL arresting everybody

g- March the army of the Vale into the Riverlands. Littlefinger won't risk another Harrenhal incident so he will bend the knee, revealing Sansa. The Riverlands will surrender soon afterwards. Do feed Walder to Drogon. That will prove quite popular with most of the kingdom.

h- March the combined Riverlands + Vale army to help Mace in getting rid of Euron. The Tyrell fleet will escort an army to the iron isles and they will bend the knee. Victarion is appoint Lord Paramount of the iron isles

i- March into the Westerlands. The deal will be simple.  burn every castle whose Lord doesn't bend the knee. If Tyrion is at your side appoint him as Lord Paramount. If not, well, keep the land to yourself. Edmure is appointed Lord Paramount of the Riverlands again. He should better be grateful to that.

j- Sent ravens to Aegon. The deal is simple. You're not Targ but if you bend the knee Ill appoint you Lord Paramount of the Stormlands. If he refuses it then give the title to the Golden company's general as long as he bends the knee and bring Aegon's head.

h- Send Cersei's head to Dorne. A sister for a sister as they say. Doran will probably bend the knee for that.

I - combine all armies and march North with Sansa at your side. Reed won't cause a fuss and will let you in. Don't accept Roose's surrender. Instead have Rickon appointed Lord Paramount of the North, Jon Snow Lord protector and Lord of the Dreadfort and have the latter cut Roose's and Ramsey's head.

your comment made me think it might end up being some "reformed" Targaryen dynasty where the best and the worst of that line is going to be trotted out "look, we overcame madness, we are leaning toward Baelor... we shun Maegor and we are the proper Aegon".

I also wonder if incest (Dany and Jon) will just be overlooked or whatever as a traditional Targ trait and be like "it's OK now.... but *oooooo* we are possibly sowing bad seeds for the future.

Cersei are next

Cersei has no claim to the throne for her own right.

Stop trying to pursue the crown. She's a terrible queen.

True. However one of Dany's worse traits is that she knows that she doesn't know how to rule but she chooses to rule and destroy her subjects. Dany may have some good intentions but she is a failure when it comes to ruling. The way I see it she will become the Queen after killing Aegon and people will hate her for being a Kinslayer, a Kingslayer and a usurper whose power comes from WMD.
