Given Posted November 5, 2016 Share Posted November 5, 2016 For any horse racing folks out there, I own a horse that I named Meraxes, and she is making her first start today at Aqueduct Racetrack in Race 9 at 4:44 p.m. Eastern time. It's actually the first horse that I ever got to name. I have the announcer calling her mur-AX-iss - if anyone thinks her name is pronounced differently let me know! Also, I'm not sure it matters much (i.e. you can pronounce "Meraxes" however you wish) but you can look it up in this ASoIaF pronunciation guide if you like. It is pronounced the way your inner voice pronounced it when you thought of the name. It is as simple as that. There's no right or wrong answer.
