for fun.

That's perfect!

There's this, too:

Game of Thrones is actually a soap and not a drama tbh. Episode by episode there's no thematic reason for anything that happens. It's just plot and plot with shades of light character development... GOT is really not... a deep show. I love it. But it doesn't REALLY have anything to say except "everyone dies."

Someone says:

Littlefinger the soapiest character in primetime rn

and he replies:

Particularly in the sense that he's a character who should've been dead a long time ago but isn't because I guess they like him?!

After reading the preliminary leaks for episode five, I began pondering Arya's portrayal on the show, and I think one of the reasons why I find it so unfulfilling is because, despite physically getting older, she hasn't really grown up much. There are some exceptions (her bond with Lady Crane, for instance) but I think that what happened to Arya is the same thing that happened with Tyrion: the audience loved Nice Guy Tyrion, so they decided to completely ignore his dark side, and the audience loved Feisty Tomboy Arya, so they decided to stick with that as well. So much like how Tyrion has remained pure as the driven snow (despite, you know, shooting his father and strangling his girlfriend with his bare hands), Arya still seems like she's a kid to me, acting without ever really considering the consequences.

On the plus side, this makes me even more eager to see how the books unfold, since I think we can safely assume that George will continue to allow his characters to change and grow.

Arya is straight up revenge porn. The way she just plopped in as cook for Walder Frey and subsequently used his face to murder all the Frey men.  No smooth transition, just an all-powerful entity of revenge with teleportation powers.

I had hoped Winterfell would bring her back to some semblance of a character, possibly one with trauma and regrets over the dark things she's done growing up to survive (hahahaha), but according to the leaks -- that hardly seems the case.  Plus, what role and character development could the Stark sisters even have in Season 8???

Teleportation powers is purely in your head. She doesn't' have them. Arya's movements have made more sense than some characters. For example, she was in episode 6.8 but used 6.9 travelling to Westeros from Braavos. Then she met up with Nymeria in 7.2, but was absent 7.3 (travelling to Winterfell). With Varys in 6.10, he goes from Essos to Westeros and back to Essos to start travelling back to Westeros with Dany's fleet all in the space of a single episode. The real problem though is we do not have a proper frame of reference for the passage of time in the show.

Character development in Season 8 for every single character, not just the Stark sisters, will probably range from none at all to very little. There will be no time for it the way D&D are rushing things and cramming pointless callback scenes in which do not advance characters. D&D's ridiculous plot lines, wasted time, focus on one aspect of a character and just doing random character actions has ruined so many characters - Arya, Sansa, Jaime, Littlefinger, Varys and Tyrion probably being the most important examples.

However, as for their role, both Stark sisters will clearly have a very important one, most likely Arya in the war for Dawn and Sansa in what comes after. That seems to be the way the show is heading anyway.

Show me where in Season 6 it hinted at Arya was going to The Twins to kill Walder Frey, in 6x08 she just said she's going home.  Her 6x10 scene felt shoehorned in and out of place.

The worst part of Arya's finale last year, and the worst case of shoeing something in, came in the way they had Arya just about jump up and down and proclaim FREY PIE as if D&D thought they were doing book readers a favor.  It was so out of place, off point, and a such a bad case of side door exposition that I'm surprised any non book reader could make sense out of it all. I'm surprised they didn't have Arya jump up and down and say LOOK LOOK....FREY PIE!!!

Someone has to replace Catelyn from the books and her role in the story.

Game of Thrones has always had a problem with treating its audience like they're idiots. That's the main reason why I think JonxDany will be played as something shocking that will haunt the two once they learn the truth. If they wanted us to go "oh, they're Targaryens, it's no big deal if they have sex or fall in love," then they would have mentioned the fact that Targaryens were known for marrying their relatives about fifty times this season by now.

Thats ridiculous. You dont give the story of a secondary character (which is what Carelyn was) to a main character while in the process ruining that main character's own story arc.

They are not going to marry this season, so there is no reason for crap like that now. The Jon revelation is supposed to be a twist but they have essentially given that away last season already, and this episode, too.

They can give us talk about the Targaryen incest in the first episode of next season and then have the wedding in next episode. That is usually their buildup. They don't buildup things throughout an entire season. Unless they have no plot. Which was the case in the last two seasons at least.

Not Arya. Arya has a story of her own.

Thank god there is only one season left because that dark blue filter on everything up North sends me over the edge.

The show has become too cute for its own good, throwing in a rowing joke, wink, wink, nod, nod.

The wight hunt is soooo stupid, so the new Suicide Squad walking out to their deaths.....whatever.

I'm so over Cersei and LF.  Just kill them already.

I skimmed this episode and thought some of the dialogue, such as between Jaime and Bronn or Davos and Gendry, felt like it was from a sit-com. It's like they're writing to create internet memes now. I also found it funny when Bran said to "send ravens" after he seemed to fly them all hundreds of miles away, which also begs the question why is he only now mentioning the Others are on the move? Sansa/Arya seemed like contrived drama that'll quickly resolve itself with Littlefinger's death in the next episode or the finale one. For me, just kill: Cersei, Bronn, OldTown, Sam, Gilly, Gendry, Jorah, Yara, Euron, Varys, Littlefinger, Brienne etc as they're all poorly written wastes of time at this point.

The wight hunt reeks of the uncreative B&W aggressively thumbing through AGOT and noticing Aliser Thorne was sent to prove the existence of the magical threat with a wight hand, and basically redoing that with a whole wight and a penultimate action scene. I don't understand why anyone is even skeptical of the white walker threat, there's a Targ Queen with three giant dragons in Westeros now, are white walkers really so much harder to believe in?

One of the most surprising things for me this season is that Cersei isn't even interesting anymore. In fact, she feels like she's more of a side-plot then a main character at this point. Cersei proclaiming herself queen never bothered me because she was such a riveting character. Now, somehow, that's gone.

I have a few rants for this episode!

First, let's address Saint Tyrion!!!!

1)Saint Tyrion creates the wight hunt expedition. It's a clever plan from  wise man!

2) Saint Tyrion is a victim! Jaime doesn't know how much he has suffered! (he has time to tell him he is a fool, which is always good in regards to Larry, maybe after 30 people have told him he'll realise it)

I AM A VICTIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3) Saint Tyrion, as one of the SuperFour, he believes he is Mr Invisible. He just walks in front of the Lannisters!!!

Saint Tyrion really believes he is perfect, but he is dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohter random rants:

JONERYS. JOnerys is luuurve. You just have to watch how Jorah's has quickly realised the DEEP connection between JOnerys. This deep connection has happened in two episodes!
I mean, everyone can see it, Jorah and Tyrion! They know they can't compete with snowFlake.

I could see people being skeptical of the WW.  After all, people were skeptical of the reports coming from Essos about the dragons.

However, since she burned Tarly alive..........we have now every named character w/military command experience except for GW and Jamie all on the same suicide mission:  Jon Snow, Beric, Mormont.  At least every once in a while Kirk would demand that Spock stay on the ship in case it's a trap and everyone is killed.........  These fools.  Ugh.

And now I'll make the Biggest Rant EVer...I promised I would post it a few months ago IF it happened. But the moment has arrived.

THIS is the biggest rant ever!

Carol and Larry will have a baby!

Larry is so happy!

They are so happy, they are new married couple, they are in joy. They will buy a new palace, and their twincest children will be blonde.

Cuz there used to be other characters in KL for her to be witty against and scheme.  Now she's there alone with a wizard, a zombie, and a lovesick puppy.

What's really ticking me off this Season is the obvious "Game of Bros" feel.

Female characters are expendable.  Olenna, the Sand Snakes, Ellaria...all gone.  Even Mel is out of the picture after 2 lackluster appearances.  Yara, captured and subdued.  That's 7 women snuffed out of the story in two episodes.  Oh wait, they dismissed Meera, too.  8 women.

But the Bros live on!  Jaime sinks in full plate metal.  It's ok, Bronn saves him (and Bronn should have been melted by the dragon.  He's useless as a character.)

And now we have Beric, the Hound, teaming up with Gendry (why is he back?) and Jorah.  Game of Bros!!!!  Game ON, Duuuuuuuude!

This Season is one giant sausage fest written by aging frat boys.

ok this was an especially stupid Episode

1.Jaime and Bronn swam 100+ yards under water in ARMOR, so take that gravity! They swam so far so fast they escaped an entire army, and Tyrion who saw his brother go in the water then never mentions it!!!

2.All advisers keep arguing with their leaders in front of everyone. Tyrion does it to Dany, Sansa does it to Jon, Euron and Randyll do it to Cersei.

#ThatsNotHowItWorks

3. Dany still has on this GD ridiculous get up, I am most looking forward to Jonaerys sex scene because it means she will  take off these awful clothes!

4. Can Deadpans and Drogon get any more words into their vocab besides 'Dracarys'? JFC

5. Why is Carol's hair so orange? Why does she only hang out in her bedroom?

6. THEY ARE FUCKING PREGNANT???!!! NO WAY THAT HAPPENS IN THE BOOKS!! Yay lets make out to celebrate!!

--oh wait, didn't books and show have a prophecy about Cersesi having children? She will have 3 they will all die, how the fuck does this fit into that?

7. Why is Drogon the only dragon who ever lands on the ground?

8. Why Do they make Dany look like she has such an awful spray tan?

9. Jon/Dany/Jorah love triangle....fucking spare me....also didn't this already happen with Daario ugh

10. Why do they make Dany keep touching his skin so much?
