Well, if I had seen any way to get out of it without coming across as an absolute jerk, I would have taken it. :/ and yes, that's right, it didn't come from "the power" and so they wouldn't pay for it. In an ideal world the manager would have paid the restaurant bill or we wouldn't have gone at all. But we are very far from that ideal world here.
