Daendrew
Winter has come. The Long Night is here. Tonight is Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, but thanks to the combination of a lunar eclipse on the night of our Winter Solstice, we'll be experiencing the longest, darkest night in nearly 500 years. http://io9.gizmodo.com/5715413/tonight-will-be-the-darkest-night-of-the-past-500-years Update: it's still Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, but this is an older article. The eclipse happened in 2010.
Larry of the Lawn
I'm hosting a bonfire, and currently accepting volunteers to occupy the sacrificial pyre. Just let me know soon, if there are more than a half dozen of you I'll need to split some more wood. There will be a cheese platter and some wine before hand. Larry of the Lawn
90% sure I have a pagan flute/drum/bass band lined up. We're working through the 'blood price' part of the negotiations as we speak.

You may want to also be sure to have plenty of obsidian lying about to help deal with the inevitable party crashers

Lany Freelove Cassandra
We're so lucky the sun came up this morning. My husband volunteered to keep the fire burning all night since I have to work today, but he failed. When I got up at 5, the fire was out. Last time I trust him with something so important
