LibDems should do well, regaining seats lost to the Tories in London and the south. Tories need to sweep Labour in the midlands to make this gamble pay off

I'm surprised May is happy to see Labour return to being a credible opposition after the election. Had Corbyn been allowed to stay for another few years the damage could have been irreparable.

Unless she decided that Corbyn was not going to last until 2020. This way, with luck, Labour loses so many seats that the new Labour leader is so weak that 2022 is also unwinnable.

Things are only going to get worse for Labour under Corbyn.  It's best to lance the boil now (from their point of view).

I think the Lib Dems should regain 10-12 seats, but I'd be very surprised if it was more.
