mgambino
I went with Wrath by John Gwynne. That whole series just hit the right notes for me.
Lord of Rhinos
I feel like I heard a lot of "meh" reviews when that series first came out, but lately I've been hearing good things about it. Which either means the first book was a lot weaker than the others or all the people that didn't care for it didn't continue.
Darth Richard II
I just finished the first book not too long ago and was surprised by how much I liked it. There's nothing really new, its just an old story told really well, plus the celtic/viking.irish whatever vibe in fantasy always hits my buttons.
