Mladen
The long-awaited night is about happen. After a long season throughout which Hollywood reminded us how diverse it is and how amazing and cool the industry can be, the year of reactionism and self-praise is about to end. The usual glitz and glam is expected and by the end of the night, we will see how open-minded the Academy is. The host for tonight's show is Jimmy Kimmel and let we just hope he won't snag someone's award. Fragile Bird
Aw come on guys, where are all the comments? Are you above watching the Oscars? I rather enjoyed seeing a guy who has been nominated over 21 times finally win an Oscar. He was moved. He was happy. Best Sound Mixing to Kevin O'Connell and two others, for Hacksaw Ridge. Well, it only needed one category fraud and a lot of shaming to give Oscar to this wonderful lady. Nevertheless, I am happy for Viola...
Fragile Bird
I guess that's a record now, two black actors winning Oscars the same night? 3 minutes ago, Risto said: Yeap... The film centres on Denzel, surely she is a supporting actor?

Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whitaker in 2006 and if I am not mistaken, Halle Berry and Denzel Washington in 2001. She is the female lead, but the studio decided to push supporting because well, she didn't have to face Huppert, Portman or Stone,

Corvinus85
Did they seriously bring some random people in the theater? They were probably told beforehand. Some contests winners. And I'm glad Zootopia won.

But IMO as an actor Viola Davis is better than Portman and Stone (though they are quality actors in their own right). Never seen or heard of Isabelle Huppert, so can't comment there. Well, if acting is the only thing deciding these things we wouldn't have Academy Awardees like Paltrow, Lawrence, Bullock or even Roberts. Last year we had that Vikander was as just as lead as Larson. Portman and Stone already had the narrative and Hupert's performance is truly amazing. Viola is the lead female in "Fences", but she could also be seen as "supporting" to Denzel. Overall, it is not the biggest crime that happened, but it is said that she wasn't placed in category she so richly deserves to win.
Corvinus85
Jungle Book wins visual effects. I was rooting for Rogue One. It's been awhile since a Star Wars movie won in this category. I liked that they sneaked in Vader in the montage of that.

Those 3 were it? Surely a couple more could have been added. Hacksaw Ridge, perhaps. And if I had to choose between Suicide Squad and Star Trek, I'd go with Star Trek.
