Football - #WengerOut

Manchester United will likely beat Ajax, which is a shame given the large disparity between the rather dour experience of watching United and the thrill a minute of Ajax.

In turkeys voting for Christmas news - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39895497. So disappointing to see FL owners dancing to the Premier League tune for money again.

Disappointing game till the last ten minutes for Chelsea. Conte with another trick up his sleeve with a substitute. The post game celebrations have been impressive. Got to see Cesc drop a fuck bomb on live tv, and got to see Diego cup John Terry's balls while he spanked his ass. All in all, good Friday night.

Zlatan is a loss but his absence is nowhere near being the main reason why we have been so poor of late. Mourinho's tactics are. He has regressed to his ultra-defensive "18th century football" tactics and this is doing us no favours. Our flair players are being saddled with far too much of a defensive burden. When Mkhitaryan is made to play as an auxiliary fullback then don't expect an 8/10 performance from him. Last night, we were not pegged back due to any brilliance on the part of Celta. We handed them the momentum when we deliberately sat back looking to protect a one goal lead rather than actually looking to kill the game off with a second goal.

Remember when we used to play like this on the regular? :(

It's becoming a fading memory.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised that Mourinho has reverted to type. It was refreshing to see him adopt a more attacking approach for most of the season though and I hope that will be the template of the style he wants to adopt at United - it is unreasonable to expect 'thrill-a-minute' football from Mourinho as that has never been his style. Our forward players have to shoulder most of the blame for our current predicament in the league. We created more than enough good chances that had we been a bit more clinical, we would be sat comfortably in the top 3 right now.

West Ham tend to take points from Liverpool often so wouldn't surprise me at all.

Rather amazingly, West Ham are 4 W, 2D and 1L in their last 7 matches v. Liverpool.  Still wouldn't bet on them tomorrow, but it does make it interesting, yes...?

The penultimate matchday of the Bundesliga was really entertaining.

Bayern managed to get the last laugh in that 5-4 football bonanza in Leipzig.

Bremen went back to the good old days without a defense, but managed to find the net a few times themselves after Hoffenheim stopped playing (Hoffenheim were leading 5-0 at that point), so that game ended 5-3.

Mainz ended their relegation worries by turning an 0-2 into 4-2 victory at home in their derby against Frankfurt.

Schalke were properly robbed against mordor.

Augsburg managed to draw against Dortmund.

And Gomez once again saved Wolfsburg.

And Ingolstadt's draw at Freiburg was not enough to keep them alive in their relegation battle (also in part because of that robbery taking place at Schalke).

Next week is still of some interest. Hoffenheim and Dortmund are tied for third (direct CL qualification) with only the goal difference giving Dortmund a tiny edge.

Mordor and Wolfsburg will play each other to see who finishes 16th (relegation play off), and who can go on holiday.

And it looks like Tuchel will be on the market after this season. To say his relationship with the board is in tatters looks like an overstatement, and his relationship with the team is rumoredly also not that great. There are even speculations about who will succeed him, Nice's Favre is atm the hottest rumour.

I think Liverpool will get the win. West Ham have been poor at home this season (although they did beat Spurs last time out) while lately Liverpool have looked better away from home. It's a tough one to call but with West Ham having nothing to play for, their players might be half on holiday already.

So that's it for this season then. Apart from 4th place, there is nothing left to be decided. The blame for Hull's relegation lies squarely on the shoulders of the owners. Marco Silva exceeded expectations with the team he had at his disposal. Even Phelan before him did about as well as could be expected given all the issues before the season even started.

Well, that's the relegation thing settled.

At this point I'm counting City as a lock for one of the CL spots, and then for fourth Liverpool at a clear advantage over Arsenal.

If they can get a win in this West Ham game, one would think Boro will be pushovers and it's all done and dusted.

Even if they don't get a win v West Ham, it isn't guaranteed that Arsenal would get 3 points against Everton (though we could hope that Everton schadenfreude vs Liverpool would make them down tools if that were a possibility...).

Thank the gods Sturridge was healthy enough for todays game. Him and Coutinho both have been awesome. Always enjoyed Coutinho more further deep. Reminded me of the end of 12/13 and the whole of 13/14. . I want Sturridge to stay but idk how realistic that is :/

Great that Sturbridge was finally able to play a full game after looking sharp as a sub in recent games, but we all know it won't last for more than a game or two.

A game or too is what ultimately will cost us 3rd place and auto qualif. for CL.It's in these kind of games that you want your best striker playing (and delivering).
