In the US, probably Boskone, which is an annual SF convention in Boston, Massachusetts in February. In UK, it was Eastercon, which is an annual SF convention in UK that moves cities each year; this year was in Birmingham, England in March. The largest annual meetup is usually at WorldCon, which is held during the summer in a different location every year (2017 is Helsinki, Finland; 2018 is San Jose, California), and at TitanCon, a convention in Belfast, Ireland, which is organized by a number of old-school boarders plus their friends each fall.

I went to one of the Boskone events years ago. Went to Kelly's Roast Beef and got GRRM a RB sandwich and fries.  All the people I met were really nice expect for one guy, that was probably Scot! :)

Ser Scot, you have always been super nice to me on the board.  And you are a super nice guy in person...I didn't see any differences between who you are on the board and in real life.

I think the only difference is that you are, in person more likely to give hugs and less likely to set up strawmen to debate.  But the latter is part of your charm on the board :)  I find that most of the people I meet from the board are different than what I had as a mind picture but there is a core truth of them that bears out in their personal presentation.  You are very close to your core truth, IMO.

Haven't met Scot, but I agree with this.  In my experience nobody is exactly what you expect (except maybe chef), but most are in the ballpark.

I've only met a handful of you ladies and gents, non of which reside in my city. I should probably fix that.

You can't "fix" people to make them live in your city!

Scot you are more charming in person.   You come across more as curious in person rather than cross-examining.

Better hugs in person, too.  Xoxo.

I'd give anything to get a picture of you and Sloggy together, y'all are the ends of the bell curve and my two favorite lawyers.

So, to those who've met me in person and those who know me online am I very different from what you expected?  Do I come across very different in person as opposed to online?

Thanks.

In real life, you remind me of the energizer bunny. ;)
